Position Overview:

As the Head of Manufacturing, you will have the opportunity to lead our Alpharetta facility specializing in the production of critical propulsion components for passenger rolling stock. In this role, you will collaborate across Siemens' global network—including teams in Germany, Austria, and India—to localize innovative technology and processes. Your leadership will drive the manufacturing and testing of advanced inverters, gear boxes, and motors used by passenger rail customers across North America. We take pride in building essential parts for rail that keep America and Canada moving safely and efficiently.

What your day-to-day will look like:

1. Manufacturing Strategy & Operations:

  • Develop and execute manufacturing strategies that align with business goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the end-to-end production process, from planning and scheduling to manufacturing, assembly, and shipping of rolling stock components.
  • Lead and manage New Product Introduction (NPI) processes, ensuring seamless transition from design to full-scale manufacturing for railway components.
  • Drive localization strategies for manufacturing processes and supply chains to support regional market needs and optimize cost efficiency.
  • Regularly report on manufacturing performance, challenges, and successes to the Business head and relevant stakeholders

2. Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team of managers, supervisors, and operational staff within the APH manufacturing facility.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and excellence.

3. Quality Control & Compliance:

  • Maintain and improve product quality by overseeing robust quality control processes and systems tailored for railway components, including during localization phases.
  • Ensure all manufacturing activities comply with industry standards (e.g., railway safety standards, ISO certifications), regulatory requirements, and company policies.
  • Lead HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) initiatives and maintain strict compliance with environmental regulations pertinent to heavy manufacturing.

4. Efficiency & Continuous Improvement:

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other quality improvement methodologies, to optimize production of rolling stock components.
  • Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and improve productivity across existing and new product lines.
5. Budget & Cost Management:

  • Develop and manage the annual manufacturing operations budget for the Mobility Rolling Stock Components unit.
  • Collaborate with finance to ensure manufacturing operations meet financial targets and cost-efficiency goals

6. Supply Chain & Inventory Management:

  • Work closely with the Strategic Procurement Department to ensure the timely procurement of specialized raw materials and components manufacturing, supporting both global and localized supply chains.
  • Optimize inventory levels to support production schedules while minimizing holding costs, especially for newly introduced components.
  • Develop and implement strategies for localizing supply chains to enhance resilience and reduce lead times.

7. Technology & Innovation:

  • Stay current with new manufacturing technologies, automation trends, and industry advancements relevant to railway component production.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies to enhance manufacturing capabilities and efficiency, particularly in support of new localizations and advanced manufacturing techniques.

To thrive in this role, you have:

Education: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial), Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field (Master’s preferred).

Experience:

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in the railway, automotive, aerospace, or heavy machinery manufacturing sector, specifically with low volume, discrete and highly complex component production.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage large teams and drive cross-functional collaboration in a demanding manufacturing environment.
  • Extensive experience with New Product Introduction (NPI) processes from concept to full-scale production.
  • Experience in developing and implementing manufacturing localization strategies.

Skills & Knowledge:

  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control, lean manufacturing, and continuous improvement practices, particularly as applied to high-precision components.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management principles for specialized industrial parts, including global and localized sourcing.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and other manufacturing software.
  • Experience with automation and advanced manufacturing technologies relevant to component fabrication and assembly.
  • Proven ability to lead NPI projects and manage the complexities of introducing new products into manufacturing.
  • Understanding of the challenges and opportunities associated with manufacturing localization.
  • Exceptional problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

The pay range for this position is $176,256.00 - $220,000.00 annually with a target incentive of of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
