Who we are

Build a brighter future while learning and growing with a Siemens company at the intersection of technology, community and sustainability. Our global team of innovators is always looking to create meaningful solutions to some of the toughest challenges facing our world. Find out how far your passion can take you.

About the Job

We’re looking for a motivated and diligent Database Operations Intern to join our team. You’ll work alongside experienced Database Administrators (DBAs), DevOps engineers, and data specialists to support database management, automation, and AI-driven insights across multiple environments.
This internship offers hands-on exposure to enterprise databases, cloud platforms (AWS), and emerging AI applications in data operations, such as intelligent monitoring, anomaly detection, and automated performance tuning.

What you will do
  • Assist DBAs with daily operations — user management, backups, database health checks, and monitoring.
  • Support ticket resolution in Jira and ensure timely follow-up on assigned issues.
  • Help automate repetitive tasks using Jenkins Pipelines, Python, Bash, or PowerShell scripts.
  • Participate in database migrations, upgrades, and testing activities.
  • Document runbooks, operational guides, and automation workflows.
  • Ensure unused AWS resources or test databases are offlined after migration/testing.
  • Contribute to AI-assisted monitoring and alerting initiatives, using data to identify performance trends or potential issues.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to integrate AI-based tools that improve database reliability and performance.
  • Support the Brightly Software projects and other operational initiatives.
What you need
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Foundational knowledge of SQL, relational database concepts, and Linux/Unix.
  • Awareness or interest in AI and machine learning applications in data management (e.g., predictive analytics, query optimization, anomaly detection).
  • Familiarity with AWS services, database monitoring tools, or DevOps practices is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Qualified Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States. Qualified Applicants will not require employer sponsored work authorization now or in the future for employment in the United States.
What your will learn
  • Real-world experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, or PostgreSQL database administration.
  • Exposure to AI-driven operations (AIOps) — how AI and ML enhance database performance, capacity planning, and root-cause analysis.
  • Techniques for database automation, cloud migration, and predictive maintenance.
  • Standard processes in incident management, observability, and proactive monitoring.
  • Collaboration in a modern, agile engineering and operations culture.
  • Learn from experienced engineers shaping the future of data and AI-driven operations.
  • Work on significant projects with direct business impact.
  • Access mentorship, internal training, and career development opportunities.
  • Flexible work options and a supportive, collaborative culture.
