Systems Test - Senior Control Systems Engineer

We are looking for an experienced and driven Systems Test - Senior Control Systems Engineer to join Siemens Mobility in our Rail Infrastructure business where you will lead our agile product development testing team in Chippenham. A crucial part of this role, is shaping and executing the software testing strategy across multiple projects with a strong emphasis on modernising testing approaches for legacy systems, CI/CD integration, application and performance testing with the context of UK railway standards.
You will have a deep understanding of the approaches to, and the phases of testing which are used to support the software development lifecycle, proven experience in managing testing of both on-premise and cloud based systems. Executing testing to support SaaS implementations, experience of leading, implementing and maintaining automation testing pipelines, strong leadership capabilities and a passion for delivering high quality, safety critical systems in the railway domain.
You’ll make an impact by
- Leading and managing software testing activities across multiple development teams
- Developing and implementing test strategies and frameworks for legacy system migration and modernisation
- Overseeing, improving and developing CI/CD pipeline integration to support automated and continuous testing
- Ensuring compliance with applicable railway standards, including CENELEC EN 50128
- Line-managing, mentoring and developing test engineers, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support system integration and end-to-end testing; producing and reviewing test strategies, specifications, scripts and reports
- Developing test strategies to ensure concurrent testing of products can be performed and test rig hardware can be maximized
- Providing clear and concise communication of progress and challenges to management, development leads and progress reports to stakeholders
- Defining and executing comprehensive application testing plans across desktop, web, and mobile platforms
- Driving performance testing initiatives to ensure system scalability, reliability and responsiveness
Your success will be grounded by
- Extensive background in software testing and test management
- Strong knowledge of CI/CD tools and practices (e.g., GitLab CI, Jenkins)
- Expertise in application testing and performance testing methodologies
- Proven knowledge and experience leading legacy system testing and migration projects
- Hands-on experience with automated testing tools and frameworks
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Railway industry background (signalling & operations) (desirable)
