Document Controller

We are looking for a methodical and organised Document Controller to join our Birmingham office as part of our Rail Infrastructure business. You will assist and deal with a range of complex technical documentation, processes, procedures and the co-ordination of activities to deliver a successful project. Within this role, you will work with various Project Managers, associated teams and be responsible for working concurrently on a number of projects each with varied, differing elements and regulations.
As part of being a Document Controller, you will also deal with unexpected and complex documents and events which will require successful resolution to the satisfaction of internal and external clients.
You’ll make a difference by
- Providing full document control support for specific projects – including document control, database management, trackers, and handling complex technical correspondence
- Offering technical support and mentoring/training to project teams on document control processes to ensure system integrity and efficiency
- Quality control of document issuing – review and reject documents that do not comply with regulations, processes, or procedures
- Managing non-standard, complex documents and ensure proper handling within project requirements
- Acting as a point of contact for clients and contractors regarding document enquiries and resolution of ad hoc issues
- Using mandatory external systems (e.g., ProjectWise/AssetWise) for issuing and booking documents in line with project contracts
Your success will be grounded by
- Experience of working in a document control or similar environment
- Customer service focused and experience of dealing with external clients
- Relevant educational experience
- Experience with SAP (desirable)
- Knowledge of rail industry (advantageous)
- Product knowledge and experience for e.g ProjectWise, AssetWise or Clearbox (desirable)
