About the Role: Customs Professional:

You will be a key player in ensuring regulatory compliance and the efficient performance of all import and export operations for Siemens El Salvador's transactions. Your work will be fundamental in keeping our supply chain moving and ensuring every shipment meets the highest standards.

What We're Looking For 

We'd love to hear from you if you meet the following requirements:

• Education: University degree required in International Business, Commerce, or Business Administration.
• Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of solid experience in international trade and customs legislation, preferably within a multinational company or El Salvador's Customs Authority.
• Languages: Intermediate English proficiency (spoken and written).
• Specific Knowledge:
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of customs legislation in El Salvador.
  • Experience in import/export operations, Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) classification, and the use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
  • Proficiency in databases and spreadsheets.
• Key Skills:
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems independently and proactively.
  • Ability to focus on projects and execute them efficiently.
  • Capability to influence others and interpret governmental regulations clearly.
  • Knowledge of local customs regulations and procedures for effective interaction with local customs authorities.

Your Key Responsibilities 

In this role, your main functions will include:

• Customs Management and Coordination:
  • Ensuring customs processing and effective coordination with customs agents for all import/export operations (air, land, and sea) carried out by Siemens El Salvador, guaranteeing the correct use of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).
• Compliance and Archiving:
  • Ensuring compliance with corporate and legal policies on file retention, guaranteeing documentary and transactional conformity, and the availability of international trade-related files.
• Operations Control:
  • Ensuring full control of definitive and temporary import/export operations, and their conformity prior to registration in coordination with customs agents.
• Customs Agent Supervision:
  • Ensuring that customs agents comply with all aspects of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), addressing and following up on necessary corrective actions.
• Declaration Review:
  • Reviewing import/export declarations before duty payment, ensuring they fully comply with local regulations and include correct tariff classifications, duties, descriptions, costs, etc.
