Position Overview:
Siemens Rolling Stock is seeking a dynamic Deputy Project Manager.
The Deputy Project Manager (DPM) will support the Project Manager in the proposal and execution of Rolling Stock projects ranging from $25M to over $250M, with durations of 3–5 years. As a key contributor during project execution, the DPM will manage various work packages across critical phases, including planning, design, procurement, manufacturing, commissioning, and customer acceptance. This role involves directing resources within a matrix organization while ensuring objectives for cost, schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction are met.
The DPM will maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding assigned work packages and coordinate task completion with Siemens’ internal teams. Additionally, the DPM will assist the Project Manager in establishing project routines and progressively take ownership of sub-projects, offering significant growth potential toward a future Project Manager role.
What your day may look like:
- Assist the Project Manager with the planning and execution of all operation goals and tasks established for the project.
- Proactively manage the assigned working packages such as contractual deliverables, document control and participate in design meetings with the customer.
- Lead internal meetings and track action items with internal stakeholders for the assigned working packages.
- Support the Project Manager in customer meetings and negotiations for changes in scope, cost and schedule and take minutes of the meeting with action items.
- Support the Project Manager to monitor and control project scope, schedule, budget, risks and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
- Support the Project Manager with the planning, development and implementation of all necessary modifications to the rolling stock equipment after delivery to the customer site
- Effectively communicate and manage work package and sub-project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
- Coordinate the collaborative work between different Siemens entities to deliver a complete integrated product which fulfills the customer requirements for a contract including both rolling stock and customer services scope.
- Support the Project Manager to develop and maintain customer relationships.
- Support the Project Manger to develop and deliver monthly project reports, customer progress reports, customer change proposals, and presentations to management and internal / external customers.
- Support the Project Manger to identify and resolve issues/conflicts within the project team.

- Education: Bachelor’ degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent.
- Excellent technical, oral and written communication skills; must be able to demonstrate presentation skills.
- Strong desire to learn Project Management responsibilities.
- Ability to manage multiple activities in an exciting-fast paced environment.
- Required travel: 25%

- Knowledge of Passenger Rail Rolling Stock is desired
- Experience leading a team in complex technical projects.
- Project management certification via PMI PMP

This position in located in Sacramento, CA. The salary range for this position is $100,266 - $ 117,912. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
