The Pre-Sales Application Engineer serves as the primary technical liaison between the sales team, potential clients, and the business development group. This role is critical in understanding customer Digital Power needs, designing tailored technical solutions, delivering compelling presentations and demonstrations, and ensuring a seamless transition from the sales phase to project execution. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of electrical engineering expertise, communication skills, and commercial acumen.
You will make an impact with the following responsibilities:
- Quotation: Collaborate with sales and business development teams for quotation and offer management.
- Customer Engagement & Needs Assessment: Engage with sales, business development and potential clients to assess their technical requirements and business challenges related to power monitoring, metering, automation, energy management, and more. Support quoting and proposal development for Digital Power solutions.
- RFP/RFI Response: Own the technical aspects of the Request for Proposal (RFP) and Request for Information (RFI) processes, ensuring accurate and persuasive responses. Interpret and apply complex electrical drawings, specifications and nomenclature.
- Solution Design & Proposal Development: Analyze customer specifications to design optimal solutions using the company's product portfolio (hardware, software, and services). Prepare detailed technical proposals, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and scope of work documentation. Define design requirements, templates and engineering standards for solution development.
- Technical Presentations & Demonstrations: Create and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and solution workshops to showcase the value and capabilities of the company's offerings to both technical and non-technical audiences. Develop network architectures tailored to customer project.
- Proof of Concept (PoC) & Pilot Management: Collaborate with customers to design PoCs and pilot projects to validate the effectiveness of proposed solutions and build customer confidence.
- Sales Team Collaboration & Training: Work closely with the sales team to secure and renew orders, providing them with technical expertise and training on new products, applications, and competitive positioning.
- Technical review: Assist in technical review process of DES quotations.
- Industry Expertise: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, technical developments, standards (e.g., Modbus, IEC 61850), and competitor offerings.
- Troubleshooting & Support (Pre- and Post-Sales): Provide advanced technical support during the pre-sales process.
- Market Feedback & Product Development Liaison: Act as a conduit for customer and market feedback to the Product Management and R&D teams to inform future product enhancements and the product roadmap.

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering or engineering.
- 3 plus years of experience in application engineering, field service, or technical sales support role within the power management, energy solutions, or electrical equipment industry.
- Strong understanding of electrical power systems, power quality concepts, data acquisition, and energy management solutions. Familiarity with industry-standard communication protocols (Modbus, BACnet, IEC 61850, etc.) and networking architectures is essential.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites and internal meetings as needed 20% travel or less.
- Must be eligible to work in the US with no sponsorship now or in the future.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with relevant engineering software tools and Microsoft business applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a customer-oriented approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) for effective interaction with all levels of the organization and customers; ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote team environment, be self-motivated, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Any related professional certification
- Experience using AI for process improvement, automation, and general business efficiency gains.
- Experience with specific energy and power management applications
- Experience with complex data centers, healthcare, and industrial applications.
- Experience generating technical designs and offerings for complex solutions that incorporate software, service, and hardware scopes.

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
