The Siemens Certified Education & Talent Academy (SCETA) program combines theory and practice through work-integrated learning (WIL) for technical and professional students. It offers students a wide range of technical, interpersonal, and business acumen training and places them in roles across Siemens Canada's businesses.

The SCETA program begins with a 3-week paid orientation, followed by two summer work terms starting in May 2026. Once their SCETA terms are complete, proficient students may be hired full-time with Siemens.

  • Term 1: May 4 - August 28, 2026
  • Term 2: May 1 – September 30, 2027
  • Location: Concord, ON

Role Overview

The Manufacturing Process Engineering Intern is responsible for developing, optimizing, and supporting manufacturing processes for electronic and mechanical assemblies. This role ensures that production lines operate safely, efficiently, and with high quality. The intern collaborates with cross-functional teams—including design, quality, test engineering, and operations—to introduce new products, improve existing processes, and support day-to-day manufacturing issues.

This role reports to our Production Engineering Manager in our Concord, ON location, 5 days/week.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

Process Development & Optimization

  • Develop, document, and validate manufacturing processes for electronics (PCB assembly, soldering, conformal coating, testing) and mechanical assembly operations.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase throughput, reduce defects, and optimize cycle times.
  • Support Lean manufacturing initiatives (5S, Kaizen, value-stream mapping).

New Product Introduction (NPI)

  • Work closely with design and R&D teams to ensure products are designed for manufacturability (DFM/DFX).
  • Create manufacturing instructions, process flow diagrams, PFMEAs, and control plans.
  • Support prototype builds and transition to volume production.

Equipment & Tooling

  • Specify, select, and validate manufacturing equipment, jigs, and fixtures.
  • Support automation projects such as robotic assembly, conveyors, ovens, coating machines, etc.
  • Maintain equipment capability through calibration, preventive maintenance, and documentation.

Quality & Compliance

  • Analyze defects and implement root-cause corrective actions (RCCA).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (IPC-A-610, ISO 9001, ESD S20.20).
  • Support internal/external audits and lead process-related CAPAs.

Documentation & Training

  • Create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and process guidelines.
  • Train production operators, technicians, and new employees on processes and best practices.
  • Maintain accurate process documentation and revision control.

Production Support

  • Provide daily manufacturing floor support to resolve process issues quickly.
  • Work with maintenance, quality, test, and production supervisors to ensure smooth operation.
  • Monitor key process metrics (yield, scrap, downtime) and drive continuous improvement.

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics or Industrial Engineering.
