Senior Field Service Engineer – PV Inverters – Michigan

The Electrification and Automation (EA) Business Unit offers the full range of energy distribution systems and solutions for all markets and through all sales channels. We provide reliable power distribution grids of today while investing into our Future Grids portfolio and applications to create the power distribution grid of the future. Our comprehensive portfolio meets the growing technical requirements of todays and tomorrow’s power grid!

We are looking for a Senior Field Service Engineer for our Electrification Automation (EA) Business Unit headquartered in Wendell, NC. This role will participate in the PV technology evaluation post sale process. They will support the sales team as one of the key technical advisors and subject matter experts (SME). This position will be based in Michigan.

You will make an impact as you:

  • Provide service, maintenance, and warranty remediation for installed PV inverters.
  • Provide technical and after-sales support to customers, including assistance during installation, commissioning and start-up, firmware upgrades, set-up of monitoring solutions as well as equipment and parts replacement.
  • Ensure fulfillment of all necessary documentation and material/parts request process for material handling
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance for Equipment when and where applicable.
  • Serve as phone support for technical issues (Help Desk services)
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy, professional oral and written communication skills and fantastic organization, planning, time, and project management.
  • Develop switching procedures, Methods of Procedure (MOP’s), and advise on electrical safety matters related to scheduled work and unscheduled work.

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • High School or GED minimum
  • 7+ years of experience with power distribution systems, specifically within the PV industry.
  • 7+ years of experience in troubleshooting & repair of electrical control circuits, including breakers or high voltage equipment testing, including analyzing test results and equipment condition assessment.
  • Must be available to respond for emergency and relief assignments.
  • Must be familiar with OSHA (Operation & Support Hazard Analysis) safety practices and perform duties within specified guidelines to ensure safety of self and supporting crew
  • This position must be based remotely within the Michigan area to support the geography of EA’s business partners.
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80%.
  • Individuals must possess a valid Driver's license in good standing and be at least 21 years of age in order to participate in the required Siemens vehicle plan.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years field service experience commissioning and troubleshooting
  • Experience with protection and control relays
  • Experience with project management software
  • Experience with High Voltage Circuit breakers
  • MSHA 46/48, OSHA 30, NFPA 70E
  • TWIC card
  • NETA/NICET

The pay range for this position is $91,463 - $156,794 annually with a target incentive of of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
