We are looking for a Lead Power Systems Consultant to join Grid Software’s Power Technologies International (PTI) team. PTI is our trusted advisor that takes a holistic approach, providing business advisory, technical consulting, and simulation software solutions.

This role is critical to the planning and integration of renewables, storage, FACTS, etc. to the electrical grid. The Power Systems Lead will perform and lead other people to do simulations of electrical transmission, distribution and industrial systems for Utilities, energy asset owners and industries to develop solutions for safe and reliable power system design, maintenance and operation, while mentoring others on the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute consulting engagements related to:
    • Power grid analysis and design.
    • System dynamics and transient studies.
    • Grid interconnection and grid code compliance.
  • Managing the consulting team in Spain and Portugal.
  • Managing/supporting project execution, tracking project progress, and making necessary adjustments to maintain scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Producing reports and presentations with study results in collaboration with team members.
  • Maintaining relationships with clients to ensure satisfaction, analyzing clients’ business requirements and identifying opportunities for further business.
  • Supporting proposal preparation by developing project plans, budgets, and timelines.
  • Providing mentoring and technical development to other consultants.
  • Developing automation scripts to streamline repetitive tasks, reduce errors, and boost overall efficiency.
  • Delivering on-site consulting and training services.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 8 years of professional experience performing power systems analysis for electric utilities, TSOs, DSOs, developers, or labs.
  • Experience leading, mentoring, or developing others professionally.
  • Experience analyzing power flow and dynamic stability using software tools like PSS®E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSS®SINCAL, ETAP, etc.
  • Good knowledge of European regulation for electrical generation/demand interconnection.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and listening skills with demonstrated ability to write effective technical reports.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, both domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior relevant technical management experience.
  • 10+ years professional experience preferred.
  • Additional experience in Power Quality and/or Electrical Protection studies.
  • Additional experience in transient analysis with tools like PSCAD, EMTP-RV, Netomac, etc.
