We are looking for an experienced Product Owner – Sustainability Management to drive digital and automation-led sustainability solutions for smart buildings. In this role, you will shape and deliver capabilities that enable customers to measure, optimize, and achieve sustainability, energy efficiency, and compliance goals—while working closely with global software and automation teams in an Agile environment.

You’ll make a difference by:

Product Vision & Strategy

• Owning and continuously refining the product vision for Sustainability Management solutions, including carbon footprint tracking, energy optimization, and compliance reporting.
• Developing strategic product roadmaps aligned with customer sustainability needs, regulatory trends, and the Siemens Building X ecosystem.
• Supporting Siemens’ mission to help customers reduce carbon emissions, lower operational costs, and achieve world-class building performance.

Backlog Ownership & Feature Definition

• Translating sustainability, market, and regulatory requirements into clear Epics, Features, and User Stories.
• Owning and managing a single prioritized product backlog based on customer value, sustainability impact, and technical feasibility.
• Ensuring Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD) for all deliverables, with well-defined acceptance criteria.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Working closely with global, multidisciplinary teams including software engineers, data engineers, architects, QA, and building automation experts.
• Collaborating with Building X platform owners to ensure scalable architectures, interoperable workflows, and unified data models.
• Coordinating development content and planning across international teams in Germany, USA, and India.

Customer, Market & Compliance Alignment

• Engaging with customers, sustainability consultants, and regulatory experts to understand real-world decarbonization and compliance challenges.
• Staying up to date with sustainability standards, ESG frameworks, carbon accounting methodologies, and regional building regulations.
• Organizing early feedback loops through pilots, beta programs, and user groups to continuously refine solutions.

Data-Driven Product Decisions

• Leveraging real-time and historical building performance data to define KPIs, dashboards, and sustainability measurement models.
• Ensuring integration with Siemens Sustainability Manager and other Building X applications for performance tracking and reporting.

General Responsibilities

• Working with Product Managers to convert business goals into software features and service enhancements.
• Participating in PI Planning, Release Management, and Change Management activities.
• Influencing the complete product lifecycle—from ideation to market launch—creating sustainable competitive advantage and commercial success.
• Collaborating with Product Management and Sales to identify, evaluate, and validate new market opportunities.

You’ll win us over by:

• Holding a B.E. / B.Tech / M.Sc. / MCA in Computer Science / Information Technology
  (Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Sustainability, Building Technology, Energy Systems, or related fields is a plus).
• 8–12 years of overall IT software product development experience, with at least 3 recent years as a Product Owner, preferably in Sustainability Management, Energy Management, or Building Automation domains.
• Familiarity with building automation systems (HVAC, energy metering, controls) or IoT connectivity stacks.
• Strong expertise in sustainability frameworks, energy efficiency, decarbonization, carbon accounting, or ESG reporting.
• Experience working with cloud-based software services and a good understanding of cloud architectures.
• Proven experience in international, multi-site collaboration with remote teams.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Hands-on experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools such as Jira or IBM Jazz.
• A strong passion for end-user empathy, product conceptualization, and continuous value delivery.
• Fluency in English and the ability to work effectively in a global environment.

Preferred / Desirable Skills:

• Experience with Energy & Sustainability solutions in the Buildings domain.
• Familiarity with the Siemens Building X ecosystem.
• Ability to actively participate in technical and architectural discussions.
• Product Owner certification.
