Siemens Digital Industries Software (DI SW) is seeking a highly skilled and motivated DevOps Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in maintaining, executing, and deploying external cloud environments for our valued customers and engineering divisions. You'll immediately contribute to our EDA (Electronic Design Automation) cloud initiatives within DI SW, becoming a key player in our cloud enablement team focused on delivering robust managed services and secure customer environments. This position demands a deep understanding of infrastructure services across major cloud providers like AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP), coupled with expertise in integrating these services within a secure enterprise network.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Managed Cloud Services: Leverage your expertise in cloud architecture, including operating systems, multi-tenancy, virtualization, containers, and orchestration, to develop scalable and highly available Managed Cloud Services.
- Ensuring High Availability: Guarantee the continuous availability and optimal performance of existing secure environments within external cloud infrastructures.
- Advanced Troubleshooting & Solution Design: Provide technical leadership in troubleshooting complex issues, designing, and implementing innovative solutions that span private, public, and hybrid cloud models. Document efforts and resolutions of customer issues using internal collaboration tools.
- Customer-Centric Communication: Engage effectively with customers, employing investigative questioning techniques to thoroughly understand and resolve their technical challenges.
- Secure Host Configuration: Utilize your Linux and Windows administration skills to configure hosts in secure environments, adhering to industry best practices and security procedures.
- End-to-End Project Ownership: Take ownership of deploying highly secure environments, from initial requirements gathering and schedule creation (setting clear expectations) to collaborating with engineers on software deployment and provisioning appropriate cloud infrastructure for specialized secure environments.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with other engineering teams to ensure all aspects of providing a highly secure environment are meticulously addressed before granting access.
What You'll Bring:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a relevant technical field.
- Experience: 3-5+ years of hands-on experience designing, executing, and supporting a diverse range of IT cloud solutions.
- DevOps Tooling: Proven experience with key DevOps tools and practices, including:
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, Packer
- Configuration Management: Ansible
- CI/CD: Jenkins
- Version Control: Git
- Containerization: Docker
- Operating Systems & Scripting: Strong foundational knowledge of Linux and Windows administration, coupled with proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Shell scripts, PowerShell).
- Programming Skills: Experience coding in a development language; Python or Golang are highly preferred.
- Observability Platforms: Hands-on experience with a major observability platform for logs, metrics, and tracing (e.g., Splunk, ELK Stack, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
- Security Fundamentals: Familiarity with data security principles, data isolation techniques, firewall configurations, and best practices for multi-tenant environments.
- Problem-Solving Prowess: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead incident resolution effectively.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, enabling clear and effective interaction with peers, partners, and customers.
- Technical Presentation: Ability to develop and present complex technical concepts to both technical and business audiences.
- Work Ethic: Strong commitment to delivering high-quality work and meeting timely deliverables.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills and time management capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Site Reliability Engineering (SRE): Familiarity with SRE concepts, including scalability, availability, maintainability, and portability.
- Cloud Certifications: Relevant cloud architecture and operations certifications for AWS, Azure, and GCP.
- Advanced IaC & Methodologies: Deep understanding and experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, strong grasp of network architecture, application development methodologies (from Waterfall to Agile/SAFe), CI/CD pipelines, and advanced DevOps practices.
- Container Orchestration: Strong understanding and hands-on experience with virtualization and container orchestration platforms, particularly Kubernetes and OpenShift.
