Who we are

Build a brighter future while learning and growing with a Siemens company at the intersection of technology, community and sustainability. Our global team of innovators is always looking to create meaningful solutions to some of the toughest challenges facing our world. Find out how far your passion can take you.

About the Job

Are you a Product Leader with a passion for transforming how local governments manage their critical infrastructure? Do you thrive on shaping strategy, driving innovation, and tangibly impacting communities? If so, we invite you to become the Director of Product Management, Government within our Asset & Maintenance (A&M) team– a pivotal individual contributor role that offers the autonomy and influence to be the "CEO of your product line."

In this high-impact, global role, you set the strategy and drive delivery of efficient asset management, enhanced communications, and AI-powered decision intelligence solutions specifically tailored for government entities. You'll own the end-to-end product lifecycle, from defining the long-term vision and multi-year roadmap to ensuring successful execution and market adoption. This is more than just product management; it's an opportunity to elevate our entire selling proposition from a product-centric approach to a powerful, vertical-focused solution that truly resonates with the unique needs of government clients.

What you will do

This role offers a unique opportunity to blend strategic vision with hands-on execution, making a tangible impact on public agencies globally. Your responsibilities will include:

Set Product Strategy & Vision

  • Define and Champion Vision: Own the multi-year, AI‑enhanced product vision and strategy for our government solutions, incorporating predictive models, decision support, and scenario forecasting aligned with government needs.
  • Build a Stakeholder-Informed Roadmap: Translate critical public sector challenges—such as deferred maintenance, resiliency, equity, and funding gaps—into a clear, actionable product roadmap with measurable outcomes.
  • Lead U.S. Government Product Focus: Lead the Government product portfolio with a dedicated focus on the technical and operational needs of U.S. state and local government asset management. This includes understanding infrastructure funding sources and eligibility requirements, the government technology stack (e.g., ERPs and best‑of‑breed systems), and the end‑to‑end customer journey across asset management functions.

Own Product & Market Outcomes

  • Drive Global Expansion: Spearhead our strategic expansion into the United States – our largest and most significant market opportunity – while continuing to support and grow our solutions in Australia and the UK. This involves understanding regional nuances and adapting our offerings for maximum impact.
  • Advance the Intelligent Planning Platform: Drive the roadmap toward an intelligent planning platform, integrating advanced technologies like Machine Learning (ML), Large Language Model (LLM) assisted workflows, GIS, and asset performance prediction.
  • Activate Market Advocacy: Champion the product with clients and in late-stage deals; collaborate with Sales and Marketing on public sector-ready positioning, pricing, and enablement; and help shape a 3rd party channel strategy.
  • Market Sensing: Build and maintain a robust market sensing engine, continuously tracking policy/regulatory shifts, funding programs, competitive moves, and AI adoption trends across local government.

Execute Through Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Orchestrate Seamless Delivery: Partner closely with UX/Design, Engineering, Commercial, Client Services, and Professional Services teams to deliver a trustworthy, intuitive, AI-enabled user experience and implementation.
  • Lead Client Engagement: Support Client Advisory Boards across municipalities and counties, actively testing concepts, validating AI features, and gathering essential feedback.
  • Connect Data-Driven Insights: Collaborate with Reporting & Analytics to connect capital investment modeling, operational performance data, and machine learning insights across the Brightly platform.

Champion Customers & the Market

  • Build Immersive Client Understanding: Meet directly with clients to build strong relationships and gain firsthand insight into their operations, challenges, and priorities.
  • Amplify the Voice of the Customer: Serve as the authentic voice of city managers, public works leaders, asset managers, budget officers, and planning departments, ensuring their needs directly inform product decisions and long-term strategy.
  • Demonstrate Industry Leadership: Represent Brightly at industry events and government forums, championing how responsible AI enhances infrastructure planning, strengthens asset resiliency, and supports transparent, fiscally responsible decision-making.

What you need

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Public Administration, Business, Urban Planning or related subject area
  • 10+ years of progressive product management experience, preferably within SaaS, GovTech, asset management, infrastructure/facilities planning, or closely related fields.
  • 3+ years specialized product experience creating and launching services or products specifically for the U.S. local government operations sector. This includes a solid understanding of budgeting cycles, asset lifecycle planning, and urban/infrastructure planning processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with GIS tools and concepts, with hands-on experience using ESRI or similar products being a distinct advantage.
  • Proven track record of defining, launching, and iterating on products that deliver measurable results, drive significant product adoption, and contribute directly to revenue growth.
  • Strong analytical abilities to interpret complex financial and operational data, as well as critically evaluate AI-generated insights (e.g., predictions, confidence levels, trade-offs) to inform product decisions.
  • Demonstrable experience in leading and influencing cross-functional teams from concept through successful delivery, without direct managerial authority. You can align diverse groups towards a common product vision.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively across the U.S. (and occasionally internationally to the UK or Australia) for onsite client visits, customer-centric events, and industry conferences, as needed.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Portfolio Ownership & Accountability: Prior experience managing a product portfolio with clear accountability for its performance, strategic direction, and successful delivery.
  • AI-Forward Visionary: Ability to articulate a compelling, AI-forward big-picture vision for products and translate that vision into a clear, actionable, and stepwise execution plan.
  • Pragmatic Decision-Making: A proven ability to make pragmatic decisions that effectively balance the unique objectives of the public sector, technological constraints, and complex interdependencies.
  • Executive Presence & Credibility: Possess strong executive presence and credibility, enabling effective engagement with senior leadership, government officials, and key industry partners.
  • Innovation & Business Model Transformation: A track record of thinking beyond current offerings, identifying new opportunities, and driving business model innovation within the product space.
  • Exceptional Communication: Superb written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly and concisely explain complex AI and analytics concepts to both technical and non-technical collaborators.
  • Customer-Centric Engagement: An exceptional client service ethic and comfort engaging confidently with leaders across municipalities, counties, educational institutions, and other public entities.
  • M&A Integration Experience: Experience with Mergers & Acquisitions integration, including process/strategy integration, cultural alignment, and building cross-geographical teams.
  • Public Sector AI & Data Governance: Familiarity with responsible AI principles (e.g., privacy, fairness, transparency), public data governance, and procurement processes specific to local government.

What Success Looks Like in This Role

In this role, success means demonstrating strong judgment, ownership, and collaboration while delivering meaningful outcomes for public-sector clients. Specifically, you will:

  • Lead with integrity and sound judgment, making principled decisions in complex, ambiguous environments.
  • Frame problems clearly and think critically, balancing public-sector realities, technical constraints, and long-term impact.
  • Deliver with ownership and accountability, focusing on measurable outcomes, quality, and technical rigor.
  • Collaborate with respect and influence, navigating healthy conflict, communicating clearly, and aligning diverse stakeholders.
  • Adapt, learn, and innovate, demonstrating resilience, curiosity, and professional maturity in a fast-evolving space.
