What will you do?
This is a regular full-time role which is based out of our Calgary office. As Project Controller, you will support Siemens Operational Leadership in monitoring and controlling the cost, schedule, and other commercial aspects of a portfolio of projects and service jobs within Western Canada. You will also maintain effective communication with project managers, clients, management, and other internal stakeholders to ensure contract compliance and quality standards are met.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Active participation in project controlling process to ensure accuracy of cost and schedule forecasting and planning activities; timely execution of change orders; accuracy and sufficiency of risk identification and mitigation planning.
- Support Project Managers with contract administration including but not limited to:
- Interpretation, application, and enforcement of commercial terms.
- Drafting of contractual notices, letters, and other customer communications.
- Identification of potential commercial and business risks, making recommendations to mitigate such risks while ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Claim management.
- Cash management.
- Monitor and expedite billing, cash collection process, and other cash-related activities to support area financial and cash targets.
- Assist sales personnel in drafting of cashflow forecasts and other financial support tasks as required.
- Support Area General Manger, Area Controller, and other Area Management team members in a variety of tasks including ad hoc financial reporting, audit response, and other duties as required.
Location: This is a hybrid role requiring in-office presence 1-3 days/week. Plus, occasional travel and jobsite visits may be required.
What will you need to succeed?
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in commerce, Engineering, Construction Management, or similar fields. A combination of education and equivalent experience may also be considered.
- Experience: 2-4 years’ experience in a project coordination, project controlling, commercial management, or similar role. Construction industry experience is an asset.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to analyze and interpret the needs of internal clients and provide appropriate options, solutions, and resolutions.
- Exercises independent judgment and operates with limited minimal direction from management, requesting support when required.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to quickly understand diverse issues.
- Proven ability to work independently and consistently meet deadlines.
- Creative thinker with strong resourcefulness and a growth mindset. Passion for learning.
- Energetic and self-motivated.
- Ability to collaborate effectively in both virtual and in‑person team environments.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications; Advanced skills with MS Excel (Data Modelling/VBA Macros)
- Other: Driver’s license with clean driver’s abstract for occasional travel and jobsite visits.
Asset(s):
- Certification(s): PMI® Project Management Professional (PMP); AACEI® Certified Cost Professional/Technician (CCP / CCT).
- Technical skills: Data Visualization (PowerBI, Tableau), Accounting software (SAP, SQL, Oracle, ERP), Basic AI (CoPilot, ChatGPT).
