Position Overview:
As a Maintenance Fabricator, you will support a broad range of activities in a dynamic, high energy maintenance department supporting transportation, reliability, and repair of production assets for manufacturing of the best rail vehicles in the world.
1st Shift: Monday - Thursday, 5:30am - 4:00pm
What your day-to-day will look like:
- Collaborate with engineers and production teams to improve processes and resolve issues.
- Ability to fabricate and prototype fixture, racks, etc.
- Certification for the use of some tools and equipment may be required, such as crane, forklift, equipment movers, fall protection equipment, Arc Flash, and any other site-specific equipment.
- Complete work order documentation accurately, quality documents, and accurately clock labor hours.
- Meet company standards for quality and workmanship
- Meet production schedule, quality requirements, and budgeted labor hours with limited supervision.
- Follow all safety requirements, including use of all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Contribute to and maintain conditions that ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
- Interpret, refine, and contribute to designs based on blueprints, sketches, or client concepts.
- Use fabrication machinery—including plasma cutters, press brakes, tube benders, rollers, and grinders—to bend and shape materials.
- Lay out, measure, and tack weld components to ensure precise alignment before final welding.
- Inspect and finish welds to ensure durability, structural integrity, and aesthetic quality.
- Provide hands on preventive maintenance, repairs, and installation of complex manufacturing equipment such as: welding robots, CNC machines, hydraulic presses, remote controlled equipment movers, lifting jacks, cranes, motors, pumps, and other industrial equipment.
- Support vehicle movement throughout the facility.
- Conduct routine scheduled preventive maintenance activities.
- Safely use hand and power tools.
- Maintain a clean work area (5S) and safely operate all fabrication equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- High school education or GED
- 4+ years’ experience in welding and machine repair.
- Ability to work with little direction to achieve a product suitable for the customer.
- Strong visual design sense and spatial reasoning abilities.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed, complex technical drawings.
- Basic English skills - ability to read and understand written instructions and effectively communicate verbally.

The base rate for this position in Lexington, NC starts at $30.29/hr. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.

The pay range for this position is $30.29/hr per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
