Position Overview:
The Investment Controller is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end asset and investment controlling process, supporting strategic investment decisions, and performing financial evaluations of capital expenditures and investment projects. This role ensures transparency, consistency, and value creation across the investment lifecycle—from initial business case to post investment performance tracking.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Investment & Asset Controlling
- Manage and govern the investment and asset controlling process across the organization.
- Ensure accurate capitalization, depreciation, and valuation of fixed assets.
- Maintain transparency of asset movements, impairments, and disposals.
- Support asset lifecycle management and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
Investment Planning & Decision Support
- Support investment decision making through financial analyses and business case evaluations.
- Review and challenge investment proposals, assumptions, and financial models.
- Perform profitability analyses (e.g., NPV, IRR, payback period, ROI).
- Prioritize investment projects based on financial and strategic criteria.
Financial Analysis & Valuation
- Perform investment valuations and sensitivity analyses.
- Assess risks and returns of capital investment projects.
- Analyze post investment performance and identify deviations from approved business cases.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Reporting
- Prepare and monitor capital expenditure (CAPEX) budgets and forecasts.
- Prepare and monitor the cashflow of investments.
- Track actual spending versus approved investment plans.
- Prepare regular management reports on investment performance and asset KPIs.
- Support long-term financial planning related to capital allocation.
Governance, Compliance & Process Improvement
- Ensure compliance with internal investment policies and approval frameworks.
- Support audits related to investments and fixed assets.
- Maintain investment documentation, decision logs, and approval records.
- Continuously improve investment controlling processes and tools.
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Act as a finance business partner to operations, engineering, strategy, and management teams.
- Coordinate with accounting, tax, and project management functions.
- Support strategic initiatives by providing financial insights and recommendations.
To thrive in this role, you have:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Controlling, Economics, or Business Administration
- Master’s degree, CFA, CMA, or similar qualification is a plus
- 3–6 years of experience in investment controlling, financial controlling, corporate finance, or valuation
- Experience with CAPEX intensive environments (manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, or real assets) preferred
- Strong financial modeling and valuation skills
- Solid understanding of asset accounting and investment economics

The base salary range for this position in California is $122,298.00– $165,240.00 and the annual incentive target is 10% of the base salary. The salary may be higher or lower depending on the budget and the candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.

The pay range for this position is $122,298.00 - $165,240.00 annually with a target incentive of of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
