Gas Turbine Service Engineering - Mechanical Integrity Engineer
A Snapshot of Your Day
As a Mechanical Integrity Engineer in Gas Turbine Service Engineering community, you are part of a global network committed to safeguarding the structural soundness and reliability of cold‑section gas turbine components.
Your day revolves around evaluating critical findings, analyzing mechanical and material behavior, performing structural and finite‑element assessments, and recommending preventive actions that keep our customers’ units running safely and efficiently.
Your expertise directly influences outage planning, risk assessments, and reliable operation of our global service fleet.
Your Tasks
- Perform mechanical integrity assessments for cold components (rotors, casings, compressor parts, bearings) based on inspection findings, fleet feedback, and operational data.
- Analyze crack indications, material degradation, failure mechanisms, and secondary‑flow‑related effects to determine risk levels and recommend corrective or preventive measures.
- Conduct structural and finite‑element studies to evaluate stresses, load responses, and component behavior under various operating scenarios.
- Support technical investigations by combining engineering fundamentals with field evidence to create clear, data‑backed conclusions.
- Develop and improve checklists, integrity criteria, and documentation workflows to ensure consistent global communication.
- Contribute to service instructions, repair guidelines, and lifetime‑extension assessments together with cross‑functional engineering partners.
- Collaborate closely with CCR, EGT, project engineering, and field service teams to resolve complex mechanical issues.
- Maintain integrity‑related databases and contribute insights that feed into reliability forecasts and fleet‑wide risk evaluations.
Qualification & Experience - We don’t need superheroes, just super minds:
- · Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical field.
- · Experience of more than 05 years in CAE/FEA (Finite Element Analysis) for linear / non-linear, static / transient thermal and structural calculations.
- Initial experience in mechanical integrity, rotating equipment, inspections, or technical project environments.
- Strong foundation in structural mechanics, including stress analysis, deformation behavior, failure mechanisms, and component lifing.
- Basic knowledge in mechanical design philosophies for casings, rotors, and compressor structures.
· Hands-on experience with FEM for structural and thermal assessments, and proficiency in tools like ANSYS, Abaqus, and SE Whole Engine Model software.
· Solid understanding of material fatigue behavior, wear, creep, and fracture mechanics.
- Experience with gas turbine components or heavy‑duty rotating machinery is an advantage.
- A structured, solution‑oriented working style and strong analytical mindset.
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics in a clear and concise way.
- Fluent in English, written and spoken.
- Strong soft skills i.e. team player, quick learner, problem-solving mindset, ability to adapt quickly & effectively etc.
