Hello Visionary!

We empower our people to stay resilient and relevant in a constantly evolving world. We’re looking for people who are always searching for creative ways to grow and learn. People who want to make a real impact, now and in the future. Does that sound like you? Then it seems like you’d make an extraordinary addition to our vibrant international team.

We are looking for The Lead Engineer – Radio

The Lead Engineer – Radio is responsible for the end to end engineering of radio communication systems across all project phases—from requirements analysis and system architecture to integration, verification, and customer acceptance. The role ensures that radio subsystems (e.g., GSM R, LTE/4G/5G, FRMCS, TETRA, Wi Fi links) are designed and integrated to meet performance, safety, reliability, and regulatory requirements.

The position combines strong technical expertise with leadership, coordination across multi disciplinary teams, and customer facing responsibilities.

You’ll make a difference by:

1. System Engineering & Requirements

  • Lead system engineering activities for radio communication systems within assigned projects.
  • Analyse customer and contractual requirements; derive and handle system and subsystem requirements.
  • Develop system architecture, interface definitions, and functional specifications.
  • Perform system design reviews and ensure design traceability and compliance.

2. Radio System Design & Integration

  • Architect solutions involving radio technologies such as GSM‑R, LTE/4G/5G, FRMCS, TETRA, and Wi‑Fi.
  • Define coverage requirements, link budgets, and RF performance criteria.
  • Support site surveys, radio propagation modelling, and frequency planning.
  • Ensure integration with onboard systems, network elements, and central control systems.

3. Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical mentorship to system engineers, RF engineers, testers, and integration teams.
  • Coordinate with multi-functional groups: hardware, software, cybersecurity, networks, verification & validation, RAMS, and project engineering.
  • Serve as the primary technical authority for radio systems.

4. Documentation & Deliverables

  • Prepare technical documents such as System Architecture Documents (SAD), Interface Control Documents (ICD), and BoQ.
  • Review vendor deliverables, engineering drawings, and design packages.
  • Ensure documentation quality and alignment to engineering processes.

5. Testing, Validation & Commissioning

  • Plan and supervise system integration tests, lab tests, FAT, SAT.
  • Support field deployment, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulatory frameworks.

6. Stakeholder & Customer Interaction

  • Participate in design discussions, technical workshops, and customer meetings.
  • Provide technical clarifications and support bid/proposal teams.
  • Act as the system engineering representative in project evaluations.

7. Compliance, Standards & Safety

  • Ensure designs align with relevant standards (e.g., 3GPP, ETSI, EN50126/8/9 for rail).
  • Drive cybersecurity, reliability (RAM), and safety considerations into the design.
  • Support risk analysis and mitigation planning.

You’ll win us over by:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics, Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in radio communications engineering; minimum 5 years in a lead/system engineer role.
  • Strong understanding of RF propagation, digital communication principles, and wireless system architecture.
  • Experience with tools RF planning software.
  • Hands-on experience in system integration and troubleshooting.

Preferred

  • Experience in railway communication systems (GSM‑R/FRMCS), mission‑critical communications, or similar industries.
  • Knowledge of networking (IP/MPLS), cybersecurity, and system safety.
  • Exposure to EN50126/8/9 processes (for railway safety systems).
  • Experience working with global distributed teams and vendors.

Key Skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
  • Leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Ability to work in multi-functional, multicultural environments.
  • High ownership and accountability
