We are currently looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to join our Customer Service organisation, supporting a major locomotive maintenance project in Central Queensland. The role is located at Depot in Nebo, QLD.

The role

As Commercial Project Manager, you will be a trusted commercial partner to the Project Manager, accountable for the financial and commercial performance of assigned Customer Service projects.

You will play a critical role across all project phases — from planning and procurement through execution, commissioning, customer service and warranty — with a strong focus on P&L, cash flow, contract and claim management.

Key responsibilities

  • Own and manage all commercial and financial aspects of Customer Service projects (C‑projects).
  • Be fully accountable for project P&L, partnering with the Project Manager to achieve financial and delivery targets.
  • Proactively identify risks and opportunities, initiating mitigation or optimisation actions early.
  • Lead contract and claim management, working closely with the assigned Contract Manager on variations, claims and negotiations.
  • Engage directly with customer commercial representatives, driving resolution of commercial matters while maintaining strong relationships.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant accounting in line with IFRS/FRG, supported by audit‑ready documentation.
  • Prepare timely financial reports, forecasts and analyses for internal and external stakeholders.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years’ experience at a commercial management level within complex project environments.
  • Strong capability in controlling, accounting, contract and claim management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in rail, maintenance, assets or long‑term service contracts is highly regarded.
