Supply Chain/Logistics Manager

Location: Mumbai


Role Purpose
Lead end-to-end logistics, warehouse, and production planning & control (PPC) operations for a greenfield factory of electromechanical products. Ensure seamless material flow, optimal production planning, and efficient inbound, internal, and outbound logistics while optimizing cost, inventory, and delivery performance in alignment with Siemens standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Production Planning & Control (PPC)

  • Own end-to-end production planning including MPS, MRP, scheduling, and sequencing
  • Ensure material availability aligned with production plans
  • Monitor and manage:
    • Material shortages
    • Production bottlenecks
    • Plan vs actual adherence
  • Drive execution of MTS / MTO / CTO manufacturing strategies
  • Manage production order lifecycle in SAP (creation, release, confirmation, closure)
  • Optimize:
    • Lead time
    • WIP levels
    • Capacity utilization


2. End-to-End Logistics Management

  • Manage inbound logistics (imports & domestic) and outbound dispatch operations
  • Ensure smooth coordination with customs, CHA, transporters, and freight forwarders
  • Drive on-time delivery (OTD) and reduce logistics lead times
  • Implement cost optimization strategies (milk run, freight consolidation, etc.)
  • Oversee end to end supply chain compliance with BIS regulations and QCO requirements, ensuring smooth import operations, risk mitigation, and uninterrupted logistics flow.


3. Warehouse & Inventory Management

  • Set up and manage warehouse operations from greenfield stage
  • Drive inventory accuracy, FIFO, batch management, traceability
  • Optimize warehouse layout, bin utilization, and storage systems
  • Ensure adherence to inventory norms (safety stock, reorder levels)
  • Implement digital warehouse systems (SAP WMS, QR/barcoding)


4. Integrated Material Flow Management

  • Ensure seamless integration across:
    • Procurement
    • Warehouse
    • Production
    • Dispatch
  • Design and implement end-to-end material flow architecture
  • Minimize:
    • Line stoppages due to material issues
    • Excess inventory
    • Internal material handling inefficiencies


5. SAP & Digitalization

  • Lead implementation and usage of SAP WMS/MM/PP modules
  • Ensure data accuracy for:
    • BOM
    • Routing
    • Work centers & capacity
  • Drive digital dashboards, KPIs, and real-time tracking systems
  • Establish data-driven decision-making across PPC & logistics


6. Compliance & EHS

  • Ensure compliance with:
    • Import/export regulations
    • Hazardous material handling & storage
    • Factory legal requirements & audit readiness
  • Maintain high standards of safety and sustainability practices


7. Cost & Performance Management

  • Drive cost reduction across logistics and planning functions
  • Monitor KPIs such as:
    • Inventory turns
    • On-time delivery (OTD)
    • Production plan adherence
    • Freight cost per unit
    • Warehouse utilization
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen)


8. Team Leadership & External Coordination

  • Build and lead integrated team:
    • PPC planners
    • Logistics team
    • Warehouse staff
  • Manage vendors (transporters, warehouse contractors, CHAs)
  • Collaborate with procurement, production, quality, and sales team


Greenfield-Specific Responsibilities

  • Establish end-to-end PPC and logistics processes from scratch
  • Define planning parameters (MRP policies, safety stock, lot sizes)
  • Lead warehouse setup, layout finalization, and material flow design
  • Support factory ramp-up and stabilization phase
  • Drive best-in-class integrated PPC + logistics practices from Day 1


Qualifications & Experience

1. Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / Supply Chain / Logistics

2. Experience

  • 10–18 years of experience in:
    • PPC / Production Planning
    • Logistics / Supply Chain / Warehouse Management
    • Manufacturing environment (preferably industrial products)
  • Experience in greenfield or plant setup projects (highly preferred)
  • Exposure to import/export operations and customs processes


Technical & Functional Skills

  • SAP (WMS, MM, PP) strong working knowledge
  • MRP & production planning systems
  • Inventory management & warehouse operations
  • Capacity planning & scheduling
  • Logistics network design & optimization
  • Knowledge of hazardous material handling & compliance
  • Strong understanding of lean logistics & planning optimization
