Your role
As a Senior Technical Sales Manager – Protection, Automation & Control, you will be part of the Electrification and Automation – Customer Services team, contributing to the growth and scalability of our Service business within the market of protection, automation and control systems for electrical infrastructures.
Customer Services supports customers in managing, upgrading and extending the lifecycle of their installed base, ensuring operational continuity, reliability, safety and technological sustainability throughout the entire asset lifecycle.
In this role, you will act as a senior technical-commercial reference for the development of the Service portfolio, identifying opportunities arising from operational challenges, aging assets and technology obsolescence, and converting them into structured and scalable service solutions.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Driving the growth and promotion of the Service portfolio for protection systems, substation automation, RTUs, SCADA and control solutions as well as developing opportunities across primary substations, HV/MV substations, power generation plants and industrial electrical infrastructures
- Analyzing customers’ installed base to identify obsolescence risks, maintenance needs and modernization opportunities.
- Defining scalable value propositions and market development strategies in collaboration with technical and commercial teams.
- Supporting customers in defining long-term maintenance, migration and modernization roadmaps.
- Building relationships with utilities, grid operators, power producers, industrial customers, EPC contractors and technology partners.
- Collaborating with Proposal, Sales, Business Development, Engineering, Project Management and Field Service teams to develop opportunities and customer solutions.
- Managing the technical-commercial process from opportunity qualification to solution definition and support during negotiations.
- Monitoring market trends, competitive landscape and investment drivers within the electrical infrastructure sector.
- Supporting customer presentations, technical workshops, industry events and business development initiatives.
What makes you a great match:
Core Requirements
- Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electronics Engineering or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in technical sales, business development, proposal management or service sales within the electrical systems sector.
- Proven experience developing opportunities related to protection systems, substation automation, RTUs, SCADA or control systems for electrical networks.
- Strong knowledge of protection and automation applications for primary substations, HV/MV substations, power generation plants or complex industrial infrastructures.
- Ability to understand electrical and automation architectures, protection schemes, interlocking logics, supervision systems and communication interfaces.
- Experience in defining revamping, retrofit, upgrade and migration solutions for existing systems.
- Ability to analyze installed base data and transform technical needs, operational challenges and obsolescence issues into business opportunities.
- Strong market-development mindset and focus on business growth and target achievement.
- Pragmatic, hands-on approach with the ability to engage in technical discussions and solution definition.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Availability to travel nationally to customer sites and industrial facilities.
- Fluent Italian and English language skills.
- Eligibility to work in Italy.
- Strong interest in digitalization topics, including AI, cybersecurity and smart services.
Preferred Requirements
- Specific experience with protection and automation systems for high-voltage substations, primary substations or power generation plants.
- Knowledge of protection relays, substation automation systems and SCADA solutions used in utility and power generation environments.
- Familiarity with IEC 61850 architectures and key communication protocols used within the power sector.
- Experience defining obsolescence management strategies, migration plans and technology modernization roadmaps.
- Knowledge of Siemens portfolios such as SIPROTEC, SICAM and substation automation solutions.
- Experience managing complex offers including engineering, supply, commissioning, maintenance and long-term support services.
- Understanding of purchasing and decision-making processes within utilities, TSOs, DSOs, power producers, EPC contractors and large industrial customers.
- Knowledge of the competitive landscape and market dynamics related to protection, automation and electrical network control systems.

The pay range for this position is 52000 – 78000 annually. The actual offer will be determined within this range, based on the candidate’s experience, knowledge, skills, and qualifications.
