Senior Building Automation Systems Specialist
Position Location: This role supports our Pittsburgh, PA branch location, which serves customers throughout the greater Pittsburgh, PA area.

Our Systems Specialists participate in the installation, startup, and commissioning of building automation system equipment that has been newly installed and supports the verification of the system database and programming, ensuring consistency with the scope of work and sequence of operations. Our Systems Specialists are the face of Siemens, and your expertise and regular interaction with the customer will help them save energy and money, as well as create a more sustainable future for our environment.
As a Systems Specialist, you will:
- Commission, startup, and troubleshoot Siemens Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls on construction and retrofit projects.
- Verify operation of HVAC equipment including AHUs, RTUs, VAVs, chillers, boilers, pumps, and associated control devices.
- Validate sequences of operation through point-to-point checkout, functional testing, and system performance verification.
- Configure, troubleshoot, and optimize DDC controllers, operator workstations, graphics, alarms, trends, and databases.
- Integrate and troubleshoot building networks and communication protocols including BACnet/IP, BACnet MS/TP, and Modbus.
- Serve as the technical lead on assigned projects, coordinating startup activities with customers, engineers, project managers, and subcontractors.
- Document commissioning activities, deficiencies, and system modifications while supporting as-built documentation.
- Provide customer training and ensure successful system turnover and acceptance.
- Work overtime, participate in rotational on-call support, and travel as required to meet project commitments.
- Adhere to Siemens, customer, and OSHA safety policies and procedures
You will make an impact with these qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, DDC systems, or related electro-mechanical systems through work experience or education.
- Demonstrated experience commissioning, troubleshooting, and integrating HVAC control systems and building automation networks.
- Working knowledge of industry communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, LON, and related building system integrations.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret mechanical drawings, control schematics, sequences of operation, and construction documents.
- Ability and willingness to work in a variety of environments, including climbing ladders and lifts, working above ceilings, in mechanical rooms, crawl spaces, rooftops, and active construction sites.
- Proficient with standard field tools and technology, including laptops, smartphones, tablets, and Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to lift and carry equipment, tools, and materials weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted.
- Ability to work overtime, participate in rotational on-call assignments, and travel as required to support project commitments.
- Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record that meets Siemens fleet requirements.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS), HVAC controls, DDC systems, or related electro-mechanical systems through work experience or education.
- Experience with Siemens Desigo, APOGEE, Insight, or other BAS platforms.
- Experience commissioning HVAC equipment including AHUs, RTUs, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, pumps, and associated control devices.
- Knowledge of IP networking fundamentals and building automation system architectures.

The pay range for this position is $57,120 - $97,920 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
