A Snapshot of Your Day

As a Polymer Scientist, you will evaluate, develop, and characterize polymeric materials and insulating systems for demanding energy infrastructure applications. You will investigate material performance under electrical, thermal, mechanical, and environmental stresses and contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable material solutions supporting future Grid Technologies products and technologies.

How You'll Make an Impact

Conduct material characterization, degradation studies, and failure investigations of polymers, elastomers, composites, and insulating materials.
Support the development and qualification of polymer-based materials and components for high-voltage and medium-voltage applications.
Assess material performance under electrical, thermal, mechanical, environmental, and aging conditions.
Drive sustainability initiatives through material substitution, circularity, environmental compliance, and reduction of product carbon footprint.
Collaborate with global R&D teams, suppliers, universities, and external laboratories to evaluate emerging material technologies.
Apply data-driven approaches, modelling techniques, and scientific methodologies to accelerate materials development and technology maturation.

What You Bring

Degree in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a comparable field.
Experienced professional with industry experience in polymers, elastomers, composites, and insulating materials, including material characterization, failure analysis, qualification, and the application of materials engineering principles to support R&D and technology development

Hands-on experience with analytical techniques such as FTIR, DSC, TGA, DMA, rheology, mechanical testing, dielectric characterization, microscopy, and thermal analysis.

Knowledge of polymer degradation mechanisms, aging behaviour, environmental durability, and material performance under electrical and thermal loading conditions.

Experience in material qualification, specification development, and supplier evaluation.

Exposure to polymer modelling, material informatics, AI/ML-assisted materials discovery, or data-driven material development is considered an advantage.

Strong analytical mindset and practical problem-solving skills.

Ability to interpret technical data and communicate findings effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Willingness to travel (up to 30%).
