You'll make an impact by
- You work closely with switchgear experts from engineering, product management, R&D, manufacturing, service, and operations to elicit, analyze, structure, and formalize domain knowledge into reusable semantic models.
- You define ontology scope, modeling principles, and competency questions, ensuring that ontologies accurately represent business concepts and support high-value use cases across the switchgear lifecycle.
- You apply your in-depth understanding of switchgear components, functions, operational principles, architectures, standards (e.g., IEC, ANSI), and lifecycle processes to model complex entities, relationships, constraints, and behaviors.
- You design, develop, and maintain enterprise-scale ontologies, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and knowledge graphs that provide a consistent semantic foundation across products, systems, and organizations.
- You define semantic integration strategies and ontology-based mappings for heterogeneous data sources, enabling interoperability between engineering, manufacturing, operational, and business systems (e.g., CAD, PLM, ERP, MES, IoT, and service platforms).
This is how you'll win us over
- You have a master's degree or Ph.D. with a focus on knowledge representation, semantic technologies, or AI, and many years of experience in designing, developing, and deploying large-scale ontologies and knowledge graphs.
- You have strong proficiency with ontology languages (OWL, RDF, RDFS, SHACL) and query languages (SPARQL), you have hands-on experience with ontology editors and tools (e.g., Protégé, TopBraid Composer, GraphDB, Stardog) and you are familiar with semantic web standards and best practices.
- You have a deep understanding of switchgear principles, components, architectures, and operational contexts, you are familiar with relevant industry standards and their implications for data modeling, and you understand the switchgear lifecycle, including design, manufacturing, testing, installation, operation, maintenance, and end-of-life.
- You are proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Python or Java) for data processing and semantic application development, and you have experience with data modeling, database technologies (relational and NoSQL), and ETL processes.
- You have excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities, and strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate sophisticated technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, agile environment, being curios and a continuous learner, and proficiency in German and English complete your profile.
