Siemens Digital Industries Software (SW) helps organizations of all sizes digitally transform using software, hardware and services from the Siemens Xcelerator business platform. Siemens' software and the comprehensive digital twin enable companies to optimize their design, engineering and manufacturing processes to turn today's ideas into the sustainable products of the future. From chips to entire systems, from product to process, across all industries, we accelerate transformation. Siemens Digital Industries Software is one of five business units of Siemens Digital Industries (DI), a leading innovator in automation and digitalization. The other four businesses are Factory Automation, Process Automation, Motion Control and Customer Services.

Start your career with the Strategic Student Program (SSP)

The Strategic Student Program is our formal internship program globally. You will be mentored by guides and again invaluable professional experience. At Siemens, SSP interns get access to an international student network and community, career development opportunities with professional growth pathways, comprehensive practical training throughout the program, access to the Siemens Learning Hub and other training materials, and the opportunity to collaborate on exciting projects within a global, diverse team.

Internship topic: Creation of a Python Application in Simcenter Amesim to run dependent parameters in Simcenter Amesim.

What you’ll be doing

Our portfolio includes innovative tools such as Simcenter Amesim, a leading software solution for multi-physics system simulation.

With Simcenter Amesim, users can create complete system models using pre-existing component libraries. However, Amesim remains a complex tool, mainly intended for guide system modeling users. To democratize system simulation and enable more non-expert users to run simulations without modeling expertise, model deployment and parameter management become very important in the context of model-based design. This is why we are exploring a dedicated external application with a simple graphical interface, allowing easy definition, calculation, and integration of parameters into Amesim models. This tool will help engineers efficiently handle simulation scenarios by centralizing parameter logic and hierarchy.

As an intern, you will work on using Python to create a graphical interface to run Amesim model parameters. You will:
  • Propose and develop a simplified and intuitive graphical interface allowing engineers to handle parameters outside the Amesim environment
  • Collaborate with our product management and engineering services teams to understand system simulation workflows related to real industrial use cases.
  • Work with our engineering and software development teams to discover challenges and needs related to the creation and use of numerous Amesim APIs.
  • Research and experiment with the most intuitive workflows to help users define calculated parameters using expressions or scripts during pre-processing.
  • Analyze how to apply calculated parameters to the Amesim model via automation or API integration.
  • Propose appropriate workflows to define simulation scenario parameters in the application.

This 6-month internship is based in Lyon (69), France and is available from January 2026.

All about you!

Currently pursuing higher education in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a related field (BAC+5 or equivalent) in France.
  • Proficiency in Python or other relevant programming languages such as C/C++ (ideally API integration knowledge).
  • Familiarity with system simulation software or multi-physics modeling tools (experience with Simcenter Amesim is a plus).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills in English. French is an asset.

Preferred skills:
  • Good understanding of system modeling, control systems, or component-based modeling
  • Interest in human-machine interaction (HMI) and user interface design.
  • Familiarity with software development tools and standard processes (e.g., version control, agile methodologies).
A cover letter is expected for this position.
