We’re looking for a hands-on Test Developer (3+ years’ experience) to join R&D teams building HMI firmware and software for industrial panels. This is a developer-first testing role: you will design and implement test frameworks, build automated test infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines, and work closely with embedded and application developers to shift testing left and raise automation coverage.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain automated tests and reusable test frameworks for firmware, embedded and HMI applications (unit, integration, API, UI, and system-level tests).
• Build and operate test environments and device labs (virtualized and physical), enabling automated test execution at scale.
• Own and improve CI/CD pipelines that run tests for feature branches, merges and releases (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar).
• Develop test tooling and harnesses in Python and C++ to enable local and CI test execution.
• Implement test orchestration, reporting and monitoring (test result aggregation, flakiness tracking, coverage metrics).
• Collaborate with scrum teams to ensure product testability and to define test strategy and release-quality criteria.
• Reproduce and triage defects with development teams; provide detailed diagnostics and actionable bug reports.
• Identify test gaps, introduce improvements and help adopt test-driven and DevOps practices across teams.
• Conform with Siemens processes, quality standards and documentation practices.
• Use Generative AI tools responsibly to accelerate test development and documentation.

Required qualifications  

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in software development and test automation (embedded, desktop or web).
• Strong programming skills in Python; practical experience with C++.
• Solid experience with Linux-based development and debugging on devices.
• Hands-on experience building/maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, etc.).
• Familiarity with test automation frameworks and tooling; experience implementing tests (unit, integration, system).
• Good understanding of software engineering fundamentals (OOP, data structures, algorithms) and software testing principles.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments and collaborating closely with developers.
• Good command of English (technical communication).

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with HMI/embedded systems, Qt, firmware or industrial automation (e.g., TIA Portal).
• Experience with Django or web back-end development for test tooling.
• Containerization and orchestration experience (Docker, Kubernetes) and cloud testing (Azure/AWS).
• Experience with device labs/HIL, firmware flashing and hardware-in-the-loop testing.
• Experience with test management tools (TestRail, MTM) and defect tracking tools.
• ISTQB or similar testing certification.
• Familiarity with networking/Ethernet or protocol-level testing.
• German language skills.
