You'll make an impact by

  • Driving the digitalization of manufacturing processes such as welding, milling, coating or (dis)assembling, enhancing efficiency, quality, and adaptability.
  • Development and implementation of orchestrated agentic AI setups to enable intelligent, self-optimizing manufacturing systems.
  • Enabling a seamless Digital Toolchain for advanced manufacturing based on agentic AI and the Siemens software and hardware portfolio, which involves:
    • Innovating in CAM automation and path planning for optimized manufacturing trajectories.
    • Pioneering  Software-Defined Automation to create adaptable manufacturing systems.
    • Advancing  World Perception, Data Analytics, and AI for both edge and cloud solutions, transforming raw data into actionable insights.
    • Verifying  your innovative solutions through physical simulations using industry-leading software like Simcenter, Process Simulate, and Siemens NX, ensuring real-world applicability.
  • You'll also gain hands-on experience with real-world manufacturing systems in our labs, Siemens' Industrial Edge devices and cloud platforms, integrating your research into real-world industrial environments.

This is how you'll win us over

  • Education: You are currently enrolled in or have recently completed a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computational Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline. Prior research experience in a relevant field is desirable.
  • Experience and Skills:
    • A strong passion for and foundational understanding of both manufacturing processes like welding or milling (ideally combined with practical experiences) as well as of Physical & Agentic AI
    • Solid programming skills, particularly in Python, ideally applied to data analytics, machine learning, or automation tasks. Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) is expected, as we highly value clean coding practices.
    • Basic experience with CAD/CAM software, with a strong preference for Siemens NX.
    • Hands-on experience with Internet of Things (IoT) and manufacturing technologies
    • Familiarity with Linux environments, experience with cloud solutions and container technologies such as Docker and proficiency in data handling is a big plus.
    • Understanding of software defined automation principles and experience with Siemens Industrial Edge devices.
  • Ways of Working: A practical, goal-oriented, and structured approach to your work, coupled with the ability to conduct independent scientific research. Eagerness to collaborate effectively within cross-functional and international teams. A proactive mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a strong desire for continuous learning and skill development.
  • Languages: Excellent written and oral English communication skills are essential; German language skills would be a valuable asset.
