We are looking for a Tool & Prototype Maker. This position will be based in Peachtree Corners.

The Tool & Prototype Maker is responsible for the preventive maintenance and repair of support equipment, training, and overseeing overall shop functions. This role involves creating engineered prototype parts, precision tools such as jigs, molds, and dies, and special guides and holding devices used in the manufacturing process. You will work with a variety of materials, including metals, alloys, plastics, and ceramics, and utilize computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines.

You'll make a difference by:

  • Performing day-to-day Tool & Prototype Making operations, adhering to internal working rules and guidelines.
  • Planning fabrication operations for dies, tools, and assemblies using sketches, blueprints, specifications, and models, ensuring safety and efficiency.
  • Verifying dimensions of finished parts using various measurement equipment to ensure conformity to specifications.
  • Assembling parts of tools and dies, and repairing/modifying gauges, jigs, and dies using hand and machine tools.
  • Designing templates and jigs to aid in the convenient fabrication of products and parts.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing repairs on tools, manually operated dies, and progressive dies.
  • Collaborating with internal and external customers and team members to resolve production process issues.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 2-year vocational training.
  • 2+ years of experience with the following:
    • Operating and programming CNC mills, EDM's, and lathes.
    • Working with Amada Coma Turret punch press and Trumpf brake press.
    • Reading and comprehending blueprints and tool drawings.
    • Selecting appropriate materials based on machining, heat treating, welding, wear, and polishing properties.
    • Applying knowledge of equipment and practices associated with fixture, prototype, and mold building.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Hurco machine centers and Mitsubishi wire EDM.
  • CAD/CAM experience, particularly with SolidWorks and Mastercam.
  • Proficiency in programming 3 and 5 axis CNC machines using CAM programs or G-Code.
  • Experience with tooling and adjusting speeds and feeds.
  • Strong analytical thinking combined with conceptual and organizational abilities.

The pay range for this position is 3,7771 - 64,750 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
