Director of Development and Systems
We are seeking a visionary Director to lead development and systems teams, driving innovation and operational excellence across our global engineering organization. This role is responsible for managing the strategy, development, and optimization of source control platforms that enable seamless collaboration and secure code management for thousands of developers worldwide. As the leader of this team, you will champion an Agentic focus—empowering teams to act autonomously while aligning with organizational goals—and foster a One Team mentality, ensuring cross-functional collaboration and shared accountability across engineering, product, and operations.
Program Focus: ONE Software Engineering System (OSES)
OSES (One Software Engineering System) is Siemens' internal developer platform designed to enhance productivity and streamline software development processes. It aims to create a cohesive, efficient, and secure environment for Siemens developers by:
- Automating Workflows: Reducing repetitive tasks and embedding best practices directly into development processes.
- Boosting Productivity: Streamlining work through automated workflows, integrated best practices, and optimized tools.
- Encouraging Code Sharing: Promoting internal code sharing to boost visibility, reuse, and company-wide innovation.
- Providing Pre-configured Templates: Offering templates with built-in security to eliminate repetitive setup.
- Managing Everything as Code: Handling infrastructure, configurations, and processes via code for automation, version control, and consistent deployment.
OSES is a key part of Siemens' journey to become a true ONE Tech Company, focusing on delivering customer value faster, more securely, and with higher quality.
Key Responsibilities
· Define and execute the strategic roadmap for source control systems, ensuring scalability, security, and reliability.
· Lead a high-performing team of engineers and architects responsible for Git-based workflows, branching strategies, and automation.
· Drive adoption of ONE Software Engineering System (OSES) principles to unify processes and tooling across development teams.
· Promote an Agentic culture by enabling teams to make informed decisions and take ownership of outcomes.
· Collaborate with stakeholders across engineering, product, and security to align source control practices with business objectives.
· Implement best-in-class CI/CD integrations, code review standards, and compliance frameworks.
· Monitor system performance and implement proactive measures to ensure uptime and resilience.
· Advocate for continuous improvement and challenge the status quo to deliver innovative solutions.
Qualifications
· Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
· Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 5 years in leadership roles. Proven experience managing large-scale source control systems (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Enterprise, Bitbucket). Strong background in CI/CD, DevOps, and secure software development practices.
· Skills: Exceptional leadership and communication skills; ability to inspire and align diverse teams. Expertise in distributed version control systems and automation frameworks. Strategic thinker with a track record of delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
· Travel: Occasional travel for global team engagement and leadership alignment.

The pay range for this position is 180,400 - 324,700 annually with a target incentive of 15-25 of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
