Siemens Industry is looking for Engineering Program Students to join the Utility Systems & Solutions Engineering Development Program within the Electrification and Automation division. This position will be based in Wendell, North Carolina. Shape

You’ll make a difference by: 

  • Participating in a structured, fouryear engineering development program supporting protection and automation products and solutions 
  • Beginning the program in a fulltimeproductionbased operations role focused on building and testing low and mediumvoltage electrical distribution equipment. 
  • Assembling, wiring, and testing electrical distribution equipment such as switchboards, switchgear, and breakers. 
  • Interpreting and following schematic drawings, wire lists, and manufacturing layouts. 
  • Completing a comprehensive onboarding experience covering Siemens products, tools, safety protocols, and operational processes. 
  • Progressing through rotational and specialized engineering assignments to support longterm development within the Electrification and Automation business. 

Program Structure (2nd shift working hours Monday - Friday 3pm – 11pm) 

Phase One – Operations Foundation (2 years) 
Participants are hired into a full-time role as either an: 

  • Electrical Assembler 
  • Electrical / Mechanical Inspector, or 
  • Electro mechanical Quality Test Technician 

This phase includes handson manufacturing experience, mentorship from engineering and operational leaders, and requires a twoyear commitment. A pay increase is provided upon successful completion of this phase. 

Phase Two – Rotational Engineering Pathway (1 year) 
Participants complete three four-month rotations in key engineering functions, which may include: 

  • Electrical Drafting / Engineering 
  • Mechanical Drafting / Engineering 
  • Project Engineering 

This phase includes exposure to different technical pathways, direct mentorship, executive sponsorship and structured growth planning. Upon completion of your second rotation in Phase Two, you will receive a program incentive bonus. 

Phase Three – Specialized Engineering Role (1 year) 
Participants deepen expertise in a previous rotation area or transition into a specialized engineering role, such as Order Engineer, applying skills to real projects that impact customers and operations. This phase promotes program participants to rotate into exempt engineering career pathway. 

Phase Four – Ongoing Engineering Opportunities 
Participants are encouraged to own their own career pathway as they continue their career development across the Electrification and Automation business unit, applying engineering skills to support Siemens’ mission and longterm business objectives.  

You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications: 

Basic Qualifications 

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States on a continual and permanent basis without company sponsorship. 
  • Current electrical or mechanical engineering student, or graduate within the last year (Example May 2025 grads can qualify for May 2026 Cohort hires, or future hire dates) 
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude with an interest in handson technical work. 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment. 
  • Ability to perform work in a manufacturing environment, which may include standing, reaching, lifting, and direct engagement with tools or equipment. 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience reading and following electrical documentation, read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and written work instructions for assembly, inspection and testing. 
  • Previous hands-on electrical or mechanical experience with hand tools and simple test equipment (e.g. multimeter, gauges, crimpers) in a manufacturing or lab environment 
  • Experience with strong attention to detail with ability to identify defects, follow quality and safety standards, and accurately document results and inspections.

The pay range for this position is 25.00 per hour. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications and premium geographic location.
