Senior Controls Engineer – Automotive Manufacturing Automation
We are looking for an experienced Senior Automation Controls Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will design, develop, and commission Siemens-based control systems for vehicle manufacturing automation. You will play a key part in delivering reliable, safe, and efficient automation solutions for automotive production lines.
What You’ll Do

Design & Develop Control Systems
Create and implement automation solutions for vehicle manufacturing using Siemens SIMATIC platforms (TIA Portal, Step 7, WinCC). -
Integrate & Commission Systems (Virtual & On-Site)
Combine software with electrical and mechanical systems, lead testing and commissioning, and ensure systems meet performance, safety, and efficiency standards. -
Lead Projects & Teams
Manage commissioning activities, prepare documentation, and ensure successful handovers to customers.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams. -
Ensure Safety & Compliance
Program and validate safety systems (e.g., Sick PLS), ensuring alignment with automotive and industry standards such as ISO 26262, CMSE®, Volkswagen VASS, BMW TMO, and Mercedes INTEGRA.
What You Bring
-
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Automation Engineering (or related field).

Eligible for TN Visa application.

5+ years of experience in the automotive automation sector.

Strong knowledge of automotive assembly system programming, including conveyors and process equipment.

Hands-on experience with PLCs, HMIs, and drives (Siemens, SEW, Lenze).

Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, Profinet, Profibus; MQTT is a plus).

Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams (EPLAN preferred).

Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
Nice to Have
-
CMSE® – Certified Machinery Safety Expert (or equivalent certification).

Multilingual skills: English required; Spanish or German a plus.

Knowledge of OEM standards such as Volkswagen VASS, BMW TMO, and Mercedes INTEGRA.
