Your new role – challenging and future-oriented
- Develop solutions to replace obsolete equipment/parts to able to maintain the business' fleet of industrial steam Turbines.
- Write complex Governing & Protection software modules from philosophy document's or convert obsolete control system into software driven system.
- Deliver Controls Applications Software Service Modification & Upgrade Projects based on current industrial Steam Turbine Operating Philosophy
- To be able to design/construct new hardware solutions to replace obsolete controls system or upgrade current control systems.
- To convert these solutions into generic replacement kits/parts for retrofitting
- Support the Installation & Commissioning Team when required to Identify and rectify problems found during installation and commissioning of equipment/software solutions supplied.
- Support the Engineering sales and tender to supply detailed quotes with regards to engineering times/potential hardware requirements/possible engineering solutions with regards to customer enquires
- The post will also support the existing Controls Engineering Teams in the design and development of Control Systems for Steam Turbine Equipment as supported by Siemens Energy Services
- Prepare (FAT & SAT) Factory & Site Acceptance Test procedures for protection systems projects.
- Be a technical leader in projects or lead other team members in project activities.
- Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including design, implementation, and commissioning phases.
- You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
- Basic Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Electronic/Instrumentation engineering or relevant field.
- 10+ years of experience in Control system design in the Control Engineering Field.
- Proven experience working with Engineering Base (EB) Software and the Global Engineering Library (GEL) database for design.
- Knowledge of Siemens Step7, WinCC, TIA Portal, PCS7 and T3000 automation products and associated software.
- Communication Network Technologies, including Design and hardware configuration.
- Communication protocols such as IEC61850 (MMS/GOOSE/SMV), DNP, Modbus, IEC103, IEC101, IEC104, Profinet, Profibus.
- Control and Protection commissioning experience.
- Knowledge of ANSI standards, IEC standards.
- Around 45% of travel is expected depending on project assignments and requirements.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Lead experience.
- Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Visio tools.
- Advanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Experience working with AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical.

- A degree or equivalent experience / professionally accredited or recognized in an engineering subject area preferably relating to the fields of Controls, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, and Software.
- Working experience with industrial controls systems applications and industrial IT networks, specific experience with Siemens S7, Siemens S7 TIA, PCS7, WinCC, T3000 or having worked with similar products used for the control and protection of industrial steam turbine technology or general process plant operations.
- Working knowledge of change/configuration management tools and processes, as well as experience with other IT related tools and software for business analytics and project management.
- Experience with working with P&ID’s and ISA/ANSI standards.
