Our Rolling Stock and Customer Service keeps trains running safely and reliably every day. The business delivers expert maintenance, technical support and digital solutions across the full lifecycle of rail fleets, helping customers maximise performance, availability and passenger satisfaction.


We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Customer Services Rolling Stock business and will be responsible for our Thameslink & Moorgate Rolling Stock contracts! You will manage a motivated and driven commercial team and will work in partnership with the Fleet Operations Director and other stakeholders to ensure effective contract management and financial performance.


This role can be based out of our Hornsey or Crawley depots, with a requirement to be on site 3 days per week to collaborate closely with the team and the customer.


You’ll create an impact by…

  • Working with the Fleet Operations Director to determine the strategic direction of the business area
  • Contract management and analysis; drive fulfilment of requirements whilst ensuring the best operational / commercial outcomes for your area of responsibility and for Siemens.
  • Introduction of appropriate KPIs to drive performance
  • Preparation and calculation of outgoing customer offers, analysis of incoming Variation Proposals, negotiating with Customers.
  • Identification and preparation of Additional Services and Claims and negotiating settlements with Customer / Suppliers.
  • Risk & Opportunity management; drive ownership among project management team for mitigation of risks and realisation of opportunities.
  • Maintenance of accurate and up-to-date cost models
  • Drive ambitious financial targets through productivity initiatives
  • Oversee finance processes (forecast, budget, month-end closing); ensure Financial Statements comply with Siemens guidelines and local GAAP.
  • Provision of accurate and timely management information to project management and local and divisional management.
  • Work closely with project managers and operational colleagues to support process improvement initiatives.
  • Correspondence management with Customer and Suppliers in accordance with documented contractual processes.
  • Drive innovation / digitisation initiatives within the commercial function and the project.


Your success will be grounded by…

  • Prior experience in a commercial management role
  • Experience working collaboratively in multi-discipline teams.
  • Strong communication, influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Part or Qualified accountant, CIMA or equivalent preferable.
  • Technically proficient in contractual terms and conditions.
  • Experience of working in SAP (Spiridon or similar).
