We are seeking an Applications Engineer to join our talented team. This role will be based in San Leandro/Livermore, CA.
You’ll make an impact by:
- Responsible for working with Company management and sales team to promote Siemens products and brand to electric power industry.
- Act as a technical resource for customers; competent in switchgear operation including SCADA and relay functionality.
- Assist Siemens sales staff as a technical expert on all things switchgear; works with Siemens engineering and quality teams to resolve customer questions and issues.
- Support Sales Teams by communicating with customers on products suitable for their specific applications.
- Facilitates, defines, and documents the required modification of existing products to suit customer specific applications.
- Be an active member of the Siemens R&D committee. Define development projects of new product designs to accommodate customer applications.
- Review ‘RFQ submissions for technical and performance requirements. When required, provides technical response for quote documents.
- Must be proficient in reading and interpreting one- or three-line diagrams within 1 year of hire date.
- Submit reports as needed by manager such as forecasts, call reports, and expenses, and maintains the CRM records in a timely and thorough manner.
- Manages CSI (customer service inquiry) functions, including fielding customer requests and inquires related to product questions, troubleshooting, field repairs and factory returns, coordinating with Quality and Engineering teams (and occasionally 3rd party service vendors) to provide timely customer resolution.
- Work with customer and sales team to design and develop custom solutions that satisfies the customer’s requirements while maintaining company profitability.
You’ll win us over by having the following qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
- 3+ experience with electrical power systems products and applications--switchgear, vacuum fault interrupters and related devices including, over current protection relays, RTUs, and Smart Grid / SCADA communication protocols, transmission and distribution systems
- Experience working in electric power industry
- Requires some travel < 25%.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications:
- High drive and discipline to work alone as well as in a team.
- Strong ability to build relationships with internal and external customers.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Industry leader and authority: active participant in industry associations and working groups.
- Ability to author applications documentation and training materials
- 5+ years’ experience working as applications engineer in power systems industry.
- Product marketing experience

The pay range for this position is $104,887 - $179,806 annually. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
