Solution Engineer Crane Automation

Role description
As a Solution Engineer within the SIMOCRANE RCOS team, you will work on advanced remote-control and automation solutions for container cranes in ports around the world. You will be part of a young, multidisciplinary and international team. No two days are the same: you design and integrate SCADA solutions, collaborate closely with PLC and hardware specialists and take part in on-site commissioning activities. The challenge lies in delivering reliable, safe and scalable solutions in mission-critical environments.

Your responsibilities

• Designing and implementing robust and scalable SCADA solutions for crane automation systems
• Contributing to the development of advanced remote-control and automation solutions for harbor cranes
• Reading, understanding and modifying PLC logic to support integration and commissioning activities
• Collaborating closely with PLC engineers and hardware teams to ensure seamless system integration
• Performing commissioning activities, including testing, troubleshooting and system optimization
• Preparing clear technical documentation and reporting progress to project stakeholders
• Supporting acceptance testing and final project handover

Your profile

• You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Automation, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• You actively work with object-oriented programming languages in industrial environments
• You preferably have at least 3 years of hands-on experience with WinCC OA
• You are able to read, analyze and adjust PLC logic (SIMATIC S7) when required
• You understand complex system behavior across SCADA, PLC and hardware layers
• You are professionally fluent in English; Dutch is an advantage
• You hold a valid driver’s license and are willing to travel internationally 10–20% of the time
