Lead Project Asset Data Engineer

What if your daily work directly contributed to a better, more connected world?

At Siemens Mobility, we are not just imagining the future of transportation, we are building it. Our team of experts is dedicated to creating smart, efficient, and sustainable mobility solutions that improve the daily lives of millions of passengers. We are looking for passionate professionals who are eager to innovate and push the boundaries of what is possible. If you are ready to be part of a transformative journey, come and join us.

Siemens Mobility is a global market leader in rail infrastructure, shaping the future of transportation through cutting-edge technology, digital innovation, and sustainable engineering. As part of our Rail Infrastructure business, you will join a team that is transforming how people and goods move, making rail travel safer, smarter, greener, and more efficient.

Reporting to the HS2 BIM Programme Manager and Asset Data Manager, the Lead Project Asset Data Engineer is responsible for the delivery, compliance and management of asset data across the HS2 programme. You will play a key role in ensuring asset data requirements are met throughout the project lifecycle while supporting the implementation of innovative digital engineering solutions. Working closely with project teams, clients and technical stakeholders, you will help drive data quality, integration and governance across multiple engineering platforms. This role offers the opportunity to shape asset information management on one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure programmes while supporting Siemens Mobility’s vision to lead the industry in digital delivery and BIM excellence.

You’ll make a difference by...

  • Designing and maintaining robust asset data architectures, relational databases and structured data models for major rail infrastructure projects.
  • Developing and optimising SQL databases, queries, validation rules and data quality processes to ensure high-quality asset information.
  • Leading data integration activities across engineering design tools, GIS platforms, databases and digital engineering applications.
  • Supporting the development and management of asset registers throughout design, construction, handover and operational phases.
  • Ensuring compliance with client standards, asset information requirements, data governance frameworks and industry best practices.
  • Acting as a trusted subject matter expert for asset data, supporting stakeholders with data queries, reporting solutions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring the delivery of accurate, compliant asset information that meets HS2 contractual requirements, asset data specifications and governance standards throughout the asset lifecycle.
  • Enabling seamless asset data exchange across clients, engineering teams and digital systems through platform configuration, data integration, automation and effective information management practices.
  • Providing trusted asset information that supports decision-making, handover and operational asset management through robust data structures, asset registers, data quality controls and continuous improvement.

What you’ll need to succeed

Must haves:

  • Strong experience working with SQL and relational database systems, including database design, schemas and data modelling.
  • Experience managing asset information and structured datasets within large rail, transport or infrastructure projects.
  • Ability to develop and interpret Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs) and implement robust data validation and governance processes.
  • Experience integrating data across multiple systems, platforms and applications, including the use of APIs and interoperable data solutions.
  • Relevant degree-level qualification or equivalent industry experience in engineering, data management or a related discipline.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
