CAD Software Specialist
Looking for challenging role? If you really want to make a difference - make it with us
Can we energize society and fight climate change at the same time?
At Siemens Energy, we can. Our technology is key, but our people make the difference. Brilliant minds innovate. They connect, create, and keep us on track towards changing the world’s energy systems. Their spirit fuels our mission.
Our culture is defined by Caring, Agile, Respectful, and Accountable individuals. We value excellence of any kind. Sounds like you?
Your new role – challenging and future-oriented:
We are expanding our advanced design and additive manufacturing capabilities and are looking for computer aided design engineer who specializes in implicit CAD with topology. Unlike traditional, feature-based systems (e.g., NX, CATIA, SolidWorks), topology uses mathematically defined fields to create complex, production-ready geometry. Your mission will be to translate functional requirements into robust implicit models, develop reusable top workflows, and collaborate with engineering, simulation, and manufacturing teams to unlock novel product solutions.
How You will Make an Impact
• Develop field-driven, implicit 3D models, lattices, architected materials, and complex surface structures in nTopology (nTop)
• Create parametric, reusable nTop blocks and custom templates for design automation
• Integrate engineering requirements (thermal, structural, fluid, acoustic, etc.) into geometry using field- and simulation-based design approaches
• Work closely with CAE analysts to couple simulation results (FEA/CFD) directly into design iterations
• Translate the implicit models into manufacturable outputs, including STL/3MF, build files for AM machines, and hand-off packages for downstream validation
• Maintain best practices for data management, version control, and documentation of nTop workflows
• Mentor colleagues on implicit modeling techniques and support the wider transition from explicit to implicit CAD methodologies
• Collaborate with manufacturing experts to ensure printability and castability with cost-effective production
We are looking for motivated and resilient minds:
• B.S. or M.S. Aerospace Engineering, Industrial Design, Applied Mathematics, or related field with a solid understanding of geometry and CAD
• Solid understanding of implicit modeling concepts—field generation, Boolean operations, periodic functions, distance fields, topology optimization integration, etc.
• Strong scripting ability for automation (Python within nTop or external APIs)
Additional Bonus Skills
• Familiarity with additive manufacturing processes (LPBF, EBM, Binder Jet, DED, or Polymer AM).
• Ability to read and interpret simulation results (FEA/CFD) and leverage them within nTopology workflows
• Experience coupling nTopology with Siemens NX, ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar for round-trip workflows.
• Knowledge of lattice optimization, architected materials, or meta-materials.
