Brightline West Maintenance Manager – Las Vegas, NV

Brightline West is building a high-speed rail line connecting Las Vegas, NV, to Rancho Cucamonga, CA. This 220-mile project will enable speeds up to 186 mph, cut travel time to under 2.5 hours, and eliminate 3 million cars annually—saving 400,000 tons of CO₂ and creating thousands of jobs.

We are seeking a dynamic Maintenance Manager to lead the Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM, Category A) for the Brightline High-Speed EMU fleet. In this pivotal role, you will ensure compliance with Service Operations (SO) standards, legal regulations, and customer requirements while driving performance, quality, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). Acting as the primary customer liaison alongside the Project Manager, you will oversee end-to-end maintenance operations to guarantee reliability, safety, and optimal performance of modern train sets. We're looking for a results-driven leader with expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, or Kaizen methodologies and exceptional leadership skills to develop and inspire a diverse team of rail technicians. What your Day-To-Day will look like:

Team Development & Leadership

  • Develop and implement hiring, training, and qualification strategies to build a high-performing maintenance technician team. Motivate, empower, and encourage your team to achieve performance goals while encouraging a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Establish organizational structure and cultivate required competencies within the team, and provide disciplinary leadership and performance management for all team members

Strategic Maintenance Operations

  • Drive strategic development and implement maintenance policies, standards, and processes
  • Schedule and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance and overhaul activities: Implement lean principles to optimize resource allocation, workflow, and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor and require strict adherence to FRA regulations: Prioritize safe work practices for the team and all individuals collaborating with maintenance operations.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate all maintenance activities across our Vehicle Maintenance Facility in Sloan, NV, and Station Maintenance in Rancho Cucamonga, CA
  • Oversee administration, controlling, logistics, and maintenance planning functions

Entity in Charge of Maintenance (ECM) Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and organizational management, to include competence management and development - showcased by your information management and interpersonal skills
  • Risk assessment and mitigation through documentation and record-keeping
  • Performance monitoring and critical metric tracking
  • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Organizational structure and accountability frameworks
  • Contracting and vendor management activities

Compliance & Standards

  • Promote a Zero Harm culture as you develop and support maintenance policies, guidelines, programs, and standards, and ensure full compliance with EHS regulations (e.g., OSHA)
  • Maintain adherence to all applicable regulations (FRA, AAR, APTA rules) and guarantee achievement of all contractual maintenance requirements

Financial & Resource Management

  • Plan and propose an annual budget for the maintenance unit
  • Allocate financial and personnel resources within approved parameters
  • Monitor and optimize operational costs and resource utilization

Operational Excellence

  • Design and propose short- and mid-term maintenance operation development plans
  • Establish and monitor improvement projects to ensure continuous enhancement
  • Coordinate and align train schedules with railroad operators
  • Select, engage, and manage local service providers
  • Guide, monitor, and approve service work delivery and quality

Partner Management

  • Collaborate with workers' councils and labor unions, where applicable
  • Liaise with local authorities on public matters as needed and represent Siemens Customer Services in all related aspects
  • Provide mechanical desk support and field response coordination
  • Collaborate & support the interface(s) between Siemens Field Service team, the Reliability and Maintenance Performance (RAMP) and Supply Chain Management.

Please Note: This role may require on-call availability and occasional work outside of regular business hours.

To thrive in this role, you have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field
  • Deep knowledge of Rolling Stock technology (preferably High-Speed Trains) and integration into railway systems and operations
  • Expertise in Rolling Stock maintenance processes and methodologies, and a comprehensive understanding of railroad operations
  • 10 years of Experience and sound knowledge of maintenance management projects: Familiarity with rail industry, equipment, terminology, and regulatory requirements.
  • Familiarity of OSHA Law and Regulations and the Code of Federal Regulations CFR-49.
  • Minimum 6 years leading teams of 15+ members with a proven track record of team development and performance management

The pay range for this position is $176,256 - $207,366 annually with a target incentive of 15% of the base salary. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
