Are you a passionate and detail-oriented Mechanical Engineer just starting your career? Do you thrive on solving complex problems and bringing innovative designs to life that contribute to a more sustainable world? If so then read on as Siemens Smart Infrastructure – Electrification and Automation, is looking for a talented Early Career Mechanical Engineer to join our Overhead Medium Voltage Systems (OMVS) team!

In this role, you’ll contribute to pioneering solutions that shape the future of sustainable energy systems, leveraging simulation, design, and CAD skills to create and optimise cutting-edge medium voltage technologies. If you’re ready to combine your technical expertise with hands-on experience in prototyping and collaboration, and you’re eager to make an impact on the path to a net-zero future, we’d love to hear from you!

Who We Are

At Siemens, we create technology that transforms the everyday, for everyone. Australia may contribute around 1% of global emissions, but we know that every action matters. That’s why we empower our customers to do more with less: using less energy, reducing emissions, and building industries that shape a cleaner, smarter, and fairer future.

By combining the real and digital worlds, we help our customers transform their industries and markets — and in turn, make a positive impact on the everyday lives of billions of people. Innovation, sustainability, and inclusivity are at the heart of what we do.

What You'll Be Doing With Us

  • Push Boundaries with Advanced Simulations: Dive into mechanical, electric field, load/stress, and magnetic simulations, with opportunities to expand your expertise into thermal and motion simulations.
  • Shape the Future of Design: Use simulation results to shape and optimise cutting-edge mechanical components and subsystems for medium voltage applications, driving efficiency and sustainability in energy solutions.
  • Bring Ideas to Life with CAD: Turn your ideas into reality by designing and refining models using CAD software, forming the backbone of robust and innovative simulation workflows.
  • See Your Work Come Alive: Collaborate with engineers in prototyping and testing, using your simulation findings to predict performance and influence real-world validation.
  • Become a Trusted Authority: Share your insights by contributing to technical reports, specifications, and documentation, making complex data accessible and impactful to shape meaningful decisions.

You Have

  • Recently completed your degree (Bachelor's, Master’s or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering (or related field).
  • Australian or New Zealand permanent residency or citizenship.
  • Demonstrated experience in simulation and related software through projects, research, or work experience, with a focus on areas like mechanical, electric field, magnetic, thermal, or motion simulation is a bonus.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (experience with Siemens NX is a plus!)
  • A solid understanding of mechanical design fundamentals (stress, loads, materials, tolerances, manufacturability).
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong communication skills to explain technical results clearly.
  • A proactive approach and eagerness to get hands-on in the R&D lab, collaborating to bring designs to life.
