We are recruiting 2 Assembly Managers based in Goole, to play a critical role within our production organisation. In this role, you will act as the key interface between Supervisors and the Head of Assembly, leading and coordinating day-to-day assembly activities to ensure delivery of the production schedule. You will be accountable for the performance of supervisors and technicians, driving results across Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People.

You’ll make a difference by ...
  • Leading safe, high-quality delivery, ensuring all assembly activities are completed right-first-time in line with defined procedures, quality gates and specifications, with full closure of manufacturing and quality milestones to achieve on-time completion of cars and trains.
  • Inspiring and managing high-performing teams, taking full line management accountability for supervisors and colleagues, embedding Siemens values, Lean principles and consistent ways of working, while ensuring capability, competence and flexibility through effective training and development planning.
  • Driving daily production performance, leading planning and prioritisation in line with production schedules, resolving issues that impact delivery, managing materials availability and collaborating closely with Assembly, Engineering and wider stakeholders to maintain uninterrupted production flow.
  • Owning financial and productivity outcomes, managing labour, overtime, scrap, waste and downtime within budget, completing RCCAs where required and maximising productive time to deliver against programme and cost targets.
  • Championing health, safety and environmental excellence, implementing safe systems of work, complying with Siemens Rolling Stock HSWE policies, engaging teams in safety leadership and leading by example to protect people, assets and the environment.
  • Building a strong people-first culture, placing wellbeing at the forefront, developing talent through continuous dialogue, performance management and succession planning, and ensuring effective onboarding, engagement, attendance and employee administration.
  • Embedding continuous improvement and compliance, actively driving 3i improvement initiatives, strengthening cross-functional processes, and ensuring full compliance with Siemens policies, controls and business conduct standards.

Your success will be grounded by ...
  • Proven people leadership experience, with accountability for task and performance management within a production, maintenance or overhaul environment.
  • Hands-on technical background, gained within a manufacturing or maintenance facility, enabling you to lead confidently in a fast-paced, operational setting.
  • Strong technical understanding, including the ability to read, interpret and clearly explain technical drawings, specifications and instructions.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and operating environments, with an understanding of relevant legal requirements, standards and compliance obligations within your specialism.
  • Experience using ERP production systems, ideally SAP, to support planning, reporting and operational control.
  • Relevant industry or trade experience, such as mechanical or electrical fitting/testing, with exposure to rail, automotive manufacturing or maintenance environments.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and development, supported by formal qualifications (HNC/HND, IEng/CEng or apprenticeship), Lean or change experience, and a willingness to work cross-culturally and develop new skills, including German language capability.

You’ll benefit from...
