Senior Product Engineer – Cloud HPC and EDA Platform

About the Role
We are looking for a Senior Technical Cloud Product Engineer to join our team in Shannon, Ireland. We are expanding our team as we continue our work on a ground-breaking greenfield application, bringing High Performance Computing (HPC) to the Cloud for the secure execution of chip design software. This role presents real challenges and an outstanding opportunity to play a pivotal role in designing, building, and optimising the cloud platforms that will deliver industry-changing solutions to Siemens EDA customers. Our Hybrid SaaS/PaaS solutions and tools are intended to scale in increments the size of an entire SaaS application for a single request, with compute scales reaching thousands of cores.
You'll be at the forefront of evolving the landscape of HPC in the cloud, working collaboratively with teams at AWS, Azure, and Google to adapt their offerings for effective EDA support along with Siemens customers worldwide. This involves enabling the next generation of integrated circuit technology through robust, cloud-based EDA workload execution for Siemens customers worldwide. You'll engage with meaningful cloud software solutions in a customer domain that are a key part of the future of the semiconductor industry, all while being part of an empowered Agile SW team in Ireland, innovating faster than Moore’s Law. The Responsibilities
As a Senior Product Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing and optimising the cloud solutions for the EDA software application domain, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalable deployment across diverse cloud environments. Some domestic and international travel will be required.
- Lead Cloud HPC Solutions: Investigate, analyse, and troubleshoot EDA HPC workload execution within Cloud Solution Provider environments such as AWS, Azure, and GCP. Collaborate with R&D to implement innovative cloud-native solutions and platform enhancements.
- Define Cloud Infrastructure Solutions: Define feature and platform requirements for the cloud infrastructure supporting EDA solutions, focusing on how they integrate with and leverage public, private, and hybrid cloud environments. Guide customers on advanced cloud and hybrid methodologies for optimal EDA deployment.
- Cloud Architecture & Deployment: Bridge the gap between HPC execution challenges and robust cloud infrastructure, optimising performance, reliability, and deployment across diverse cloud environments.
- Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership to other Product Engineers on cloud technologies and best practices. Work closely with product development and marketing teams to connect evolving cloud infrastructure challenges with Siemens' current and emerging technical solutions for HPC Cloud deployment.
- Stakeholder & Customer Engagement: Represent and articulate the value of Cloud-based EDA solutions to stakeholders from the highest level of Siemens leadership to Siemens field product specialists and our customers. Support Siemens EDA Cloud customers, addressing technical needs related to cloud platform integration and performance.
- Training & Enablement: Deliver in-depth training sessions for field engineers and customers on cloud platform features and functionality related to EDA deployments.
- Requirements Gathering & Specification: Design use cases and develop test scenarios tailored to customer needs for cloud-based EDA workflows. Collaborate closely with customers to gather cloud platform requirements and produce clear, detailed documentation and specifications.
- Marketing Support: Work closely with marketing teams to perform market research, product positioning, and create supporting presentation materials related to cloud-optimised EDA deployments. Present and demonstrate Siemens EDA solutions' cloud infrastructure capabilities at conferences, seminars, and events.
- Continuous Improvement: Work closely with experienced team members to advance technology, uphold best practices, and drive ongoing product enhancements for the cloud platform.

You are passionate about cloud infrastructure along with a strong understanding of HPC and how to adapt it for complex distributed Linux application deployment needs. You possess:

- Strategic Thinker: Identifies market and customer profiles for deploying complex software solutions effectively on cloud and hybrid infrastructures, developing a network of technical relationships at a peer-to-peer level with both customers and product engineering teams.
- Product Advocate: Influences product direction by gathering cloud infrastructure requirements and defining use models that drive product development and marketing teams. Participates in new feature specification, development, and validation processes to ensure solutions meet customer requirements for scalable and efficient cloud-based EDA deployments.
Job Qualifications
- Significant and proven experience architecting, maintaining, and deploying complex products on large-scale cloud platforms in production (Public, Private, or Hybrid).
- Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure and GCP.
- Experience in container technology (e.g., Docker) and microservices.
- Experience with Linux as a primary deployment OS.
- Programming experience using Python (for automation and cloud orchestration) and hands-on familiarity with IaC for product deployment.
- Understanding of computer systems and x86 and ARM architecture and corresponding cloud hardware.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Fluent in English, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Self-driven, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently.
- Occasional travel required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Technology, or a relevant field; M.S.E.E. or equivalent preferred. Coming from a software development background within a Linux development environment is an advantage.
- Familiarity with EDA customer infrastructure (Grids, Storage, Network, scripting, Makefiles, regression) is a strong plus.
- Broad EDA knowledge will be a significant plus.
- Familiarity with the EDA domain (e.g., HDLs, CAD scripting) is a plus.
- Understanding of EDA tools (e.g., Questa OneSpin Verify Property, Synopsys VC Formal, Cadence Jasper) with an emphasis on their cloud deployment and integration is a plus.
- Exposure to sales and applications environment is a plus.
