As a Lead Architect, you will be responsible for designing and maintaining robust, scalable, and secure hardware and software architectures that meet business and technical requirements. You will collaborate closely with development teams, product owners, and stakeholders to ensure architectural integrity and guide the implementation of best practices.

You’ll make an impact by

  • Define and govern enterprise architecture standards aligned with business objectives.
  • Ensure technical alignment across organizational units, including architecture principles, security standards, and best practices.
  • Harmonize technology stacks, platforms, and integration patterns to avoid fragmentation.
  • Design and document scalable, secure architectures for complex systems.
  • Lead or participate in architecture reviews and cross-team alignment forums.
  • Evaluate and select technologies with a focus on scalability, performance, and sustainability.
  • Ensure compliance with security, performance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Be a trusted advisor for the management, acting as a bridge between business and technical stakeholders and driving continuous architectural improvement.

You excel in

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience as a Software Architect in R&D environments, contributing to medium to large-scale projects across the full lifecycle.
  • Strong background in industrial automation and HMI, particularly with the SIMATIC portfolio (IO, PLC, visualization systems).
  • Experience with agile methodologies and international, cross-cultural project environments.
  • Technical expertise in embedded or mobile platforms; SSWA, SWA, or comparable certification is a plus.
  • Highly autonomous with strong leadership and communication skills; strategic thinker with a passion for digitalization and emerging technologies.
  • Proficient in German and fluent in English.
