Start your career with the Strategic Student Program (SSP)

The Strategic Student Program is our formal internship program globally. You will be mentored by guides and again invaluable professional experience. At Siemens, SSP interns get access to an international student network and community, career development opportunities with professional growth pathways, comprehensive practical training throughout the program, access to the Siemens Learning Hub and other training materials, and the opportunity to collaborate on exciting projects within a global, diverse team.

Internship topic: Implementation of Machine Learning modeling for lithium-ion battery aging in Simcenter Amesim.

What you’ll be doing

In collaboration with the Product Development team of Simcenter Amesim, you will be responsible for developing at least two distinct approaches to lithium-ion battery aging models that employ the use of Machine Learning (ML). These two approaches will require you to improve the existing model and to adapt its architecture to the requirements of Simcenter Amesim. To reach these objectives, you will:
  • Conduct a bibliography study to identify the most relevant ML architectures to the case-study,
  • Implement the architectures you found and those developed in-house,
  • Compare the results of the empirical model currently implemented in Simcenter Amesim with your ML approaches.
For this work, you will be accompanied by the team that has developed and implemented data-driven battery aging models in Simcenter Amesim.

This 6-month internship is based in Lyon (69), France and is available from January 2026.

All about you!

You are pursuing higher education in engineering (BAC+5) in France with a focus on energy storage systems, energy, electrical engineering, machine learning or simulation, or equivalent.

  • You have a background in simulation.
  • You are already experienced with machine learning.
  • You have ideally a knowledge of lithium-ion batteries.
  • Your interpersonal and communication skills in both French and English enable effective collaboration within the team.
  • You can work autonomously as well as collaboratively with mentors.
