Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Innovate in Power Optimization:
  • Drive the research, design, and development of sophisticated algorithms and methodologies for power optimization within the Aprisa flow.
  • Identify and evaluate novel techniques for static and multifaceted power reduction, including clock gating, power gating, multi-VDD, and other low-power design techniques.
  • Chip in to the strategic roadmap for power optimization features in EDA tools.
  • Algorithm Development and Implementation:
  • Architect, develop, and implement sophisticated algorithms for power-aware PnR, ensuring high performance, scalability, and accuracy.
  • Focus on areas such as power-aware placement, routing, CTS, and optimization stages.
  • Apply sophisticated data structures and computational geometry techniques to tackle intricate power-related challenges.
  • Tool Development and Integration:
  • Design and implement features within existing or new EDA tools to enhance power optimization capabilities.
  • Ensure perfect integration of new power optimization features with other PnR stages and design flows.
  • Collaborate with multi-functional teams to ensure well-rounded design closure.
  • Performance and Quality Assurance:
  • Develop and implement meticulous testing and validation plans for power optimization algorithms and features.
  • Analyze and debug sophisticated power-related issues, providing effective solutions and workarounds.
  • Optimize tool performance, memory usage, and runtime for large-scale designs.

Qualifications

  • Educational Background:
  • Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in EDA R&D, specifically focused on PnR and power optimization.
  • Proven track record of successfully developing and delivering complex algorithms and features for commercial EDA tools.
  • Technical Expertise (Must-Haves):
  • Deep expertise in PnR algorithms and methodologies.
  • Extensive knowledge of power optimization techniques at the physical design level (e.g., clock gating, power gating, multi-VDD, dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS), leakage power reduction).
  • Strong understanding of digital circuit design, VLSI physics, and semiconductor device characteristics impacting power.
  • Proficiency in C++ programming, with a strong emphasis on writing high-performance, robust, and maintainable code.
  • Experience with scripting languages like Python or Perl for automation and data analysis.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard EDA tools and design flows.
  • Technical Expertise (Nice-to-Haves):
  • Experience with advanced nodes (e.g., 7nm, 5nm, 3nm) and their associated power challenges.
  • Knowledge of formal verification techniques for power intent (e.g., UPF/CPF).
  • Experience with parallel programming and distributed computing for EDA applications.
  • Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex technical challenges independently.
  • Strong ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends, and derive actionable insights.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and across different functional groups.
  • Strong presentation skills for technical reviews and customer interactions.
