In Qatar, Siemens Mobility is currently operating and maintaining the Education City Tram System, the world's first low-floor, catenary-free tram system. It utilizes a Hybrid Energy System (HES), which combines supercapacitors and batteries to power the tram between charging points along the route. Spanning 11 km, the network connects the North and South Campuses of Education City with 19 Siemens Avenio trams, enhancing sustainable mobility in the region. 

Today, we are recruiting for a Line Supervisor to join our team in Qatar. This is an excellent career opportunity for professionals looking to join a truly international team in one of the major projects of Siemens Mobility.

What Are My Responsibilities?

• Supervise and monitor the daily performance of Tram Drivers to ensure safe and punctual operations.
• Support tram operations (delays, service quality, disruptions) in coordination with the Operations & Maintenance Control Centre (OMCC).
• Conduct Tram Driver performance assessments using observation and competency management tools, providing feedback, coaching, and training where required.
• Carry out competence assessments in line with the Tram Driver Competency Management System.
• Conduct regular (weekly, monthly, quarterly) feedback sessions and complete annual performance appraisals for assigned drivers.
• Manage Tram Driver rosters and allocate spare drivers to cover operational gaps when needed.
• Perform the duty sign-on process, ensuring compliance with uniform standards, fitness for work, and Drugs & Alcohol requirements.
• Monitor the condition of station/stop equipment and facilities and report failures or issues to the OMCC Controller.
• Act as Incident Officer when requested, coordinating with emergency services, OMCC Controllers, and Senior Management until relieved.
• Review incident reports submitted by Tram Drivers for accuracy and completeness and support incident investigations.
• Propose operational improvements to enhance service performance and reliability.
• Support Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities for new equipment or systems when required.
• Assist the Operations Controller and Operations Manager with documentation updates and operational process improvements.
• Temporarily cover Tram Driver duties when necessary to maintain service continuity.

What Do I Need to Qualify for This Job?

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering Field.
• At least 3 years of experience in tram, metro, or railway operations.
• Good understanding of rail public transport operations, rules, and procedures.
• Strong knowledge of safety, environmental, and quality standards in operational environments.
• Ability to analyse situations, make decisions, and respond in accordance with operational procedures.
• Good organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.
• Strong people management and staff supervision skills.
• Good command of spoken and written English.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
• Valid driving license preferred.
• Ability to work independently, under pressure, and in a safety-critical railway environment.
