Web Development Intern - Strategic Student Program 

 
Based: Hybrid. Genova, Italy - Internship 6 months – Possibility of extension.   
 
Siemens Digital Industries Software is a leading provider of solutions for the design, simulation, and manufacture of products across many different industries. Formula 1 cars, skyscrapers, ships, space exploration vehicles, and many of the objects we see in our daily lives are being conceived and manufactured using our Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) software.  

  
Position Overview: 

As a Web Development Intern in the Strategic Student Program, you will play an active role in developing a dynamic user interface (UI) as part of a collaborative team focused on enhancing the UI framework for an innovative product. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of modern, responsive web interfaces that deliver a seamless user experience. Working alongside experienced developers, you will help drive the evolution of the product’s UI architecture while gaining valuable practical skills in a supportive and international environment. 

Responsibilities:   

  • Collaborate closely with UI/UX designers to translate wireframes and prototypes into functional, visually appealing web components. 
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, maintain code quality, and promote knowledge sharing within the team. 
  • Contribute to troubleshooting and resolving technical issues during development, supporting the delivery of reliable and robust web applications. 
  • Stay up to date with emerging web technologies and industry trends to continuously improve the product’s UI framework and user experience. 

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:   

  • You are currently pursuing a master’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Informatic Technologies, or a related field, in Italy. 
  • You have good knowledge of C#, React, and a basic understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).  
  • Your very good communication skills in English allow you to collaborate effectively with diverse international teams. 
  • You are proactive, take ownership, and eager to learn.  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with OOP principles, REST APIs, and Git is appreciated. 
  • Exposure to Entity Framework or similar ORM tools, frontend build tools like Webpack or Vite, and browser developer tools.  
  • Awareness of CI/CD concepts, automated testing, and web security best practices. Knowledge of CSS preprocessors such as SASS or LESS is a plus.

The Strategic Student Program is our formal internship program at Siemens Digital Industries Software globally. You will be mentored by experts and again invaluable professional experience. The Siemens Strategic Student Program (SSP) in Italy offers a part-time (25 hours per week) or full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship. Based in Genova, Italy, the program follows a hybrid work model and runs for six months, starting from February.  To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled at an Italian university for the entire duration of the program, including both Italian and international students. Both curricular and extracurricular internships are accepted.
