Siemens Digital Industries Software (SW) helps organizations of all sizes digitally transform using software, hardware and services from the Siemens Xcelerator business platform. Siemens' software and the comprehensive digital twin enable companies to optimize their design, engineering and manufacturing processes to turn today's ideas into the sustainable products of the future. From chips to entire systems, from product to process, across all industries, we accelerate transformation. Siemens Digital Industries Software is one of five business units of Siemens Digital Industries (DI), a leading innovator in automation and digitalization. The other four businesses are Factory Automation, Process Automation, Motion Control and Customer Services.

Start your career with the Strategic Student Program (SSP)

The Strategic Student Program is our formal internship program globally. You will be mentored by guides and again invaluable professional experience. At Siemens, SSP interns get access to an international student network and community, career development opportunities with professional growth pathways, comprehensive practical training throughout the program, access to the Siemens Learning Hub and other training materials, and the opportunity to collaborate on exciting projects within a global, diverse team.

Topic: Creation of a 3D viewer for vehicle dynamics.

What you’ll be doing

You will work within the “Transmission, Vehicle dynamics and ADAS” team, which is responsible for the development and maintenance of libraries that provide simulation capabilities for vehicles, chassis, automated machinery, and robotics within Simcenter Amesim.

Simcenter Amesim integrates a 3D visualization tool that allows for the animation of 3D objects using model parameters and simulation results.
Using this tool, within the context of vehicle dynamics system simulation, the objective of this internship is to provide an automatic 3D view of the vehicle and its main components. This aims to simplify model parameterization and better analyze simulation results.
The first phase of the internship will involve defining what would be relevant to display in this view for Amesim users, for example:
  • The positions of key elements (chassis center of gravity, wheel centers, tire contact points, engine mounts, engine center of gravity, etc.) based on model parameters.
  • The description frames used for parameterization.
  • The main variables calculated during the simulation (positions of key elements over time, forces on wheels and in the drivetrain, steering wheel angle, tire temperature, etc.).
  • Some sophisticaded post-processing variables (roll center position, wheel trajectory, center of gravity trajectory, engine torque axis, etc.). Some variables may not currently exist and would need to be added to the existing modeling components.
  • Positioning predefined cameras to highlight specific aspects and quantities.

The second phase will consist of integrating these elements into the framework provided by the 3D animation (using C++).

This 6-month internship is based in Lyon (69), France and is available from January 2026.

All about you!

You are pursuing higher education in engineering (BAC+5 or equivalent) with a focus on automotive or mechanical engineering, in France.
  • You have good knowledge and/or participated in projects related to vehicle dynamics.
  • You have good analytical skills and a curiosity about finding technical solutions and applying them.
  • Your interpersonal and communication skills in both French and English enable effective collaboration within the team.
  • Knowledge or experience in C/C++ programming is a plus.
