The Senior Planner provides strategic and project planning expertise to ensure efficient resource allocation, project execution, and alignment with business goals.
In this role you will:
- Strategic Planning:
- Develop long-term plans aligned with organisational objectives.
- Analyse trends, forecasts, and data to inform project decision-making.
- Support leadership with scenario planning and capacity modelling.
- Operational Efficiency:
- Optimise resource utilisation (people, time, budget) on projects.
- Identify bottlenecks and propose process improvements.
- Project and Portfolio Management:
- Support project prioritisation and scheduling.
- Ensure alignment between project timelines, resource availability, and other interfaces.
- Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed.
- Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Act as a liaison between Engineering, Project Management, and leadership teams.
- Communicate plans, risks, and updates clearly and effectively.
- Facilitate planning workshops or reviews.
- Data-Driven Decision Making:
- Use tools and analytics to support planning accuracy.
- Maintain and improve planning systems and dashboards.
- Provide insights and reports to support business reviews.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Competence and experience using Primavera P6 (including planning, cost and resource loading), MS Project, and Excel.
- Prior experience in the rail industry, specifically in signalling, train control, or communications systems.
- Proficiency with exporting/importing data from/to Primavera.
- Ability to modify projects using advanced functionality for resource allocation and levelling, and provide required information for resource planning in internal tools.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Extensive experience in project planning for major infrastructure projects.
- A degree in Engineering, Project Management, or similar is preferred but not essential.
