We are looking for Technical Manager Software – Locomotive Control

As a Technical Manager, you coordinate software development for locomotive control technology within the framework of customer-neutral product development, ensuring timely and quality-compliant implementation. You are responsible for work packages for the European market, manage engineering teams, and ensure compatibility with hardware and platform requirements. You bring a solid technical education, extensive experience in rail vehicle software and project management, as well as strong communication and teamwork skills.
- As a Technical Manager (f/m/d), you coordinate engineering teams with a focus on vehicle control and ensure that software enhancements and changes for our locomotives are implemented with optimal quality, timing, and process compliance.
- You operate within the structured framework of customer-neutral product development and roadmap planning.
- A key aspect of your role is coordinating work packages for the European market. You drive and support software development, ensure alignment with hardware, and maintain platform compatibility.
- You manage our engineering disciplines and are responsible for content, costs, timelines, and process adherence.
- You contribute to defining technical requirements and ensure their implementation in accordance with applicable standards.
- You collaborate closely and trustfully with your interface partners (e.g., engineering, project management, internal certification).
- You present your work results to project management and leadership.
- Open communication within the team and a willingness to collaborate internationally are expected.
Desired Skills:
- Your success is built on a completed technical bachelor’s degree (e.g., electrical engineering, mechatronics, industrial engineering).
- You also bring extensive professional experience in software within the rail vehicle industry (e.g., as a software developer (f/m/d), technical sub-project manager (f/m/d)).
- You have long-standing experience in project management and a certification as a project manager
- You are familiar with Polarion, SAP, and Office365 tools including Copilot/AI, and are open to new technologies and tools.
- You understand technical interdependencies and enjoy providing structured support for creative processes.
- Your excellent team and communication skills have enabled you to work effectively in complex matrix structures.
- Domain knowledge of locomotive/ train control, testing and commissioning.
- Good understanding of standards such as IEC 50128, IEC 50126 and 50129 etc.
- Good communication and presentation skills complete your profile.
- You should demonstrate strong teamwork and be able to guide peers to bring out required results.
