Position overview:
As a Material Handler I in our Material Review Board department, you’ll play a key role in a fast-paced, high-energy warehouse environment—ensuring that production teams receive the right materials on time to build the world’s best rail vehicles.
What your day may look like:
- Perform a variety of warehouse activities, including receiving, put-away, picking, kitting, packaging, and delivering materials between warehouse, production, shipping, and disposal areas.
- Pick, package, and deliver dispositioned Quality Notifications (QNs) from the warehouse to production for rework and to shipping for vendor returns.
- Utilize SAP for inventory control and quality processes, including working with Quality Notification and Inventory & Warehouse Management modules.
- Ensure transactional accuracy for all material movements—correct quantities, proper locations, and timely updates in the MRP system.
- Verify that all materials are properly labeled and identified with part numbers.
- Handle materials with care to prevent damage during storage or transport.
- Report any quality or delivery issues immediately to your supervisor.
- Operate powered industrial vehicles (forklift, crane, order picker, scissor lift) safely; certification will be required.
- Meet production schedules by delivering materials on time.
- Share knowledge by explaining warehouse procedures to team members.
- Follow all safety requirements, including PPE usage, and help maintain a safe work environment.
What you will need to be successful:
- High school education or GED
- 2 years previous experience in a warehouse environment
- Proven experience with various computer programs such as Microsoft Word & Excel, and SAP
- Basic English skills - ability to read and understand written instructions and effectively communicate verbally.
We would be impressed if you had:
- SAP experience in Quality Notification and/or Inventory & Warehouse Management modules
- Powered Industrial Vehicle certification.
